  • How do I make Strawberry Jam/Jelly/Preserves???

    Folks,
On a trip back from Virginia yesterday, I stopped at lil ole mawmaw farm and bought 10 strawberries, even though I would love to lay around and eat them all day, I cant.
So, I dont have a dehydrator yet, so the next best thing is to can em.

Does anyone here have a recipe and/or video that documents what I would need to do?

    I would be most APPRECIATIVE!!!

    AHO

Do you literally have 10 strawberries? Or do you have 10#, or 10 boxes, etc? When I can jam (I don't like jelly very much, so I don't can jelly often), I just do the recipe off of the pox of pectin. It's really easy. : ) Hope that helps!

Get yourself the latest issue of The Ball Book. It has everything you need to know about canning and preserving.

          2 lbs Strawberries
          4 cups of sugar
          2 lemons
          3 Canning Jars

Squeeze the lemons into a pot with the 4 cups of sugar...stir until boiling or sugar melted.
Cut all the Strawberries into small pieces and add to sugar mix
Mash everything real good and boil until 220 degrees
Pour into canning jars and KABOOM, you have preserves.
Cant wait to bust these open on some biscuits

Yes, Virginia has some excellent strawberries... I have eaten so many I have turned red and have seeds coming out my hair folicles...

Wish the season was longer... Real, plant-ripened strawberries make the UNRIPE, GREEN, but artificially red by gas treatment berries in the markets seem GROSS in comparision...

@JimmyDiablo, it says if you pressure can em, maybe a year. Mine is almost gone. Wife made biscuits the past few mornings so it is getting demolished. Best preserves I have ever had but maybe its because it was the first batch I made. If you just want to make some to snack on, you dont have to pressure can em, just throw it in the fridge and eat it like its going out of style. If yall need the link for the recipe, I would be more than happy to post it. Just let me know,

@Rmplstlskn.....man these were just about the best ones I have ever had except for the ones at Southern Belle Farm in Mcdonough, Ga. Man their berries are unreal and organic.
