  • Winter dividends

A little gleaning from the winter garden, some huge carrots.

Pulled some brocolli also. Had some cabbage last week.

Have a boatload of a cabbage about ready- too bad the stuff is so cheap!

We have been experimenting with planting times for the fall. We have previously been either too late, too early, etc.

The stuff that's in the winter garden now have had light snow once, several hard frosts in the 20's but are still chugging away.

The cabbage and greens I'm not too fond of, but the family likes them. The brocolli I could eat all day long ;)

    How's your winter/fall garden going?

When did you plant them? I think my climate is very similar to yours and I'd like some guidelines. When are you planting your spring garden?

MB- Most of this stuff was in by September 15th.

As for spring/warmer weather stuff- we generally plant green beans around the 1st of April. We've done March 15th before but had lousy results. Potatoes can go in now as well as other cool weather crops and root crops.

Corn, maters and warmer loving stuff we generally wait till mid April.
