I've worked with and talked with more than a few guys that -like me- use chainsaws here and there around the homestead.
Quite a few of them had never cleaned this track-

It's the track in your bar that the chain "rides" in. You can get a helluva lot of gunk out of this track after just one good use of the saw.
A cheap pick from Harbor Freight is useful for cleaning this grove. The Stihl "scrench" that comes with the saw is ALMOST small enough to clean this grove but I don't think it was designed for that.
I use a pick like the one pictured and then blow it out with whatever I have handy- carb cleaner, WD40, etc. If you have the toothed "wheel" at the tip of your blade, be sure to clean that also and make sure it's turning freely.
