I am greatly saddened by this whole affair. Firstly, the private who released the dokuments should be tried for treason. Secondly, why the heck did he have access to so much? Why should anyone need that degree of access save the folks at the top?

As for Juliene Assange, in my opinion he's a terrorist. This isn't journalism in any way. If it's about a certain story you would release dokuments pertaining to that story, not all of the dokuments. Is it some form of first amendment issue? For matters like planning for roads, budgets or planning for the future, much of that should be transparent and open anyway, so no problem. But when it includes dokuments about the identity of those cooperating with our armed forces, state department internal communications etc - that should not be open to all.

I am disgusted on so many fronts with all of this.
With a sloppy, oversize government unfit to run a lemonade stand.
With a disgruntled private who should never see the light of day again.....at best
With a bitter and hateful Julliene Assange who should be hunted down and prosecuted
With the interminable head scratching from the powers that be, unable to figure out what to do other than complain.
With news agencies/TV talking heads who sing praises of the open information available to all.

Put politics to the side. We all see the bloated government, terrible representatives, insurmountable debt etc. We all know and live the misery no matter your beliefs, trapped amidst their ill advised, self serving political shenanigans. Whether Liberal, Conservative, Independent, Democrat, Republican or Tea Party, this is just plain wrong.
If I saw someone publicly release internal dokuments from a large company so other companies could gather that information, I would call it wrong. If I saw someone taking all of a family's personal papers and dokuments and give it to anyone, I would know it's wrong. And seeing this, it's beyond wrong.

We look, though my eyes at least, utterly incompetent and weak as a nation due to this. Plug the leaks, prosecute the private and zip the foul lips of Assange.

The problem is in the liberals and many democrats believe that it IS journalism. They think they have the RIGHT to know everything that goes on.

The fact is THEY DO NOT!! There is a reason we have items marked "classified" and "secret", and the policy of "need to know" in place.
I had a "secret" clearance while on active duty, but I still could not access EVERYTHING, under the "need to know" policy.

Somehow this PFC (Private First Class) ILLEGALLY obtained these dokuments. He then committed treason by forwarding them to wikileaks.

But of course, I think he is the fall guy, I cannot grasp the fact that some little punk 18 y/o had the military know how to find all the dokuments he found. He would not have immediate access to all these dokuments unless he worked at one of the CENTCOMs (central commands) and I do not believe he did. That being said, I am amazed at how long it is taking to have him tried and executed. Treason is punishable by death in times of war, and if found guilty, he NEEDS to be the example!!

Next is the wikileaks POS. He needs to have his passport revoked from his host country, then turned over to the US for trial. Just because he is NOT a US citizen does NOT mean we cannot reach out and touch him. Trust me, no nation in this world has NOT been graced with some form of US aid in the past, and if they ever think they may need it again, they better play nice.

Finally we fall to the POS newspaper reporters and die hard tv liberals that think it is their right to know everything and broadcast it. These people have no clue of patriotism at all in my book. They think that everybody needs the right to know everything? I bet if we start posting their pay amounts, their addresses, the hours they leave their house unoccupied, how much cash they carry on their person on any normal day, they would really quick learn why EVERYBODY NEEDS TO KNOW EVERYTHING is a very very bad policy and mindset.
