In general you want to continue driving if it is at all possible. This means driving on all flats, driving through things, ramming, etc. First thought should be keep the vehicle in motion if at all possible IMO. A vehicle will take a LOT of abuse and still keep moving.
Keeping in mind also that, in context of a bugout, it might be your wife, teenage son or daughter driving. They have to be trained and practiced in what to do also.
Understand I'm not saying you should "never" get out of the vehicle, it's just that while the vehicle can be kept moving, it should be kept moving.
