Not me. If the guy wants to keep his business to himself, I won't dog him on it.

@slingshot,this post wasnt in any form or fashion meant to "dog" anyone. After i loaned JWRs book "patroits" to a couple friends and got them interested in prepping, they both knew i read JWRs blog daily,so they asked my opinion as to what state i thought it was located in..and yes i agree, its his business but i thought id throw it out in general discussion for other opinions...if i was wrong,i apoligize to everyone who reads this post

Because I'm over 50 and have gray hair may I offer some of you younger folks some wisdom? One of the pillars of Libertarian philosophy is a profound respect for other folks privacy. This question is not even remotly polite. Where is mine? Don't ask.

I believe it is somewhere west of the rockies, i think that is what he said in one of his books or on his site. I think bountyhunter69's friends were wondering more about why JWR chose where he chose rather than his exact coordinates IMO.

            your not JWR.
So for normal "web" folks it is not all that rude. He is a public figure that has time and time again been in the lime light of the survivalist movement. There has been times when he has given the location( state only) via TV interviews etc iirc.

Now you ask any poster here where their BOL is and well that is plain rude. Just like walking up to someone at a meet/greet/camp out and doing the same ( yes it has happened to me and others here).

It is like the many questions we get at PAW and im sure RH gets with SR. Sooner or later people start putting 1 and 1 together......Southern Idaho.... in Jan.....no snow?....shorts and t shirt...palmettoes..................Rawles is no different if you follow his writting/talks. You wont know the exact location but you may know where it is geogrpahically ( northwest.....southeast.....plains states.......) . IMHO it shouldnt matter to us.

For all we know..rawles could be like any other so called "survival experts" out there on the web( full of BS, living in the burbs or a penthouse flat in a major urban area). But i seriously doubt it.
Take what knoweldge you find useful to your prep plan and run with it.
Or just sit back an entertain the thought that he sits in a well prepared , couple hundred acre retreat with the perfect group, with all the toys, and all the preps one could ever wish for !

Surfing Mr. Rawles blog will reveal a list of preferred states for whatever reasons. I believe my state, Wyoming, is about 5th on the optimal list because of the weather(we're getting a good dose of it right now). I live here because I enjoy the cold, wind, high elevations and sparse population. Sub zero temperatures only mean I have to use a hard wax and go fast! I will tell you that my own retreat is well above 10,000 feet for several reasons.

I'd say "who cares?" but that might sound rude. :)

I doubt that also as pertains to Rawles. After you do this for a while, you can kinda "read" people a little bit to whether or not they have really done some of this stuff. My opinion of Rawles from having him on my shortwave show promoting his book (when it first came out) in 98 and 99 was that Rawles was a stand up guy when it comes to knowing preparedness.

Now some OTHER "fiction" writers in "the survivalist" genre (hint hint) would do better staying in the fiction realm. I just got a book from another "fiction" "survivalist" writer that is called "Survive!". It has got to be the worst book on the subject I've ever read.

Reading it I feel like the old priest in the movie Nacho Libre when Nacho pours the nasty gruel in his bowl and the old guy says "this is the worst lunch I've ever had."

I'm a sooker (sp on purpose) for books of all types but especially preparedness related books. But hey if you want to trap wabbits just like Elmer Fudd did on the Bugs Bunny cartoons, then checkout the book "Survive!"

Hey biathlon! I can vaguely remember 50, passed it a long time ago. That's the reason I respectfully ducked out on that question concerning someone's BOL location. I know the question was asked with good intentions, no harm or disrespect intended, but seems to be poking around with somebody's wish for privacy. I get rude questions all the time, "How many acres do you have?" "How many cows do you have?" Mostly from city folks that would resent me asking them, "How much do you make a year?" "How much money do you have in your checking account, or savings account?" I know they don't understand so I don't get too upset, I just come up with some BS answer to throw them off. LOL No harm, no foul!

                      I guess.... Malibu, CA. lol!

I too don't really care, as I am not in his "group" or "short list," so why would it matter?

But I would bet it is probably a location we would agree with and set up pretty good...

I'm with Rmplstlskn dunno dont care. I'm hear he's there. He's scared and I'm not. You wanna know where I'm at just look at my name. You wanna meet just holler. I have mixed feelings on him but not the folks here. Not to say I agree with everyone all the time or vise versa but hey thats what makes it interesting. I still respect the views here because most of you all are pretty smart. At least with this site we have a say and it doesn't not get posted if someone disagrees like his or doesn't spend an adequate amount of money on his stuff.

let me propose that he has bought and sold.
so a correct guess at one time in history may not be true today.

Let's just say I wouldn't mind being his neighbor. I bet I could say the same thing for most of the people here.

I am sure JWR is a decent human being, but he DOES make his, pretty good, living, by scaring the rubes. They pay big bucks to have him spoon feed them his survival pablum.
