  • Help spreading lime?

    Hello,

I am planning to farm a couple of acres next year and thought I would get a jump on sweetening the soil. My cooperative extension report recommends about one ton++ per acre of pulverized lime. One problem with this is that pulverized lime spreaders are absurdly expensive (around 3 thousand for a half ton ground driven unit). Pulverized lime is pretty cheap in bulk.

On the other hand, pelletized lime can be spread easily with a regular fertilizer spreader but it runs about 5 bucks for a 50 lb bag, and its hard to find in bulk.. We are talking about 40 bags per acre or about 200 bucks per acre. That ain't exactly peanuts either. Any Ideas?

Usually you can get the lime delivered and spread for a small charge. Check with your feed/fertilizer store

      There is your answer.

You might want to consider storing some lime also, and not for what you think I'm talking about ;)

It can be very useful in post nuclear growing....
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"
