  • The Crazies

    OK all, kind of survival related. Anybody seen the movie "The Crazies"?

    Was wondering how you guys would react to a massive military takeover of your town like in the movie?

    I am thinking the best thing would be to go into complete lockdown. Don't kill anybody, and basically just disappear. Then wait until whatever just happened to make sense before I come up with a new POA...

    What are your thoughts? :cool::cool:

    I just have a natural dislike of being locked down by anyone, or anything; military, police, or whatever. Maybe that comes from being on restriction as a kid.LOL Natural disasters, or other dangers I'm fine with taking my chances, because I still have the power to make decisions, even if they are small. But to get locked down is one of the "disasters" I would rate towards the top of the worst case scenario list. Even if it is supposedly for my own good, I want to be able to make the choice. There's too much history about bad things happening when a group of people has that much control over another group. So I would be inclined to try to escape, and continually search for a way to do it. Of coarse a movie like that has a lot of hype and panic to achieve the affect, but, maybe in a real scenario the government would do a lot better job trying to ease everyone's concerns and keep things orderly. When they just show up, surround everyone, and they all wear the protective suits, people would obviously, promptly, completely freak out. So in the movie version, I'm searching for an exit, and waiting for the opportunity to jet. In real life, maybe the threat would be much more downplayed, things much calmer, and I wouldn't have much reason for concern. But in a real life situation, I don't know how much of a chance I, or anyone else is going to have at getting away if the military wants us to stay. So maybe you would be better off going into lockdown right off and being better prepared to ride it out successfully, whatever it is. If I knew I was being contained though, I couldn't help but want to fight that and get away.

      I wouldnt give it a whole lot of thought after watching the New Orleans "lockdown". More holes than an NFL players saturday at the club story.
      But now that you mention it I have done recon, have exit strategies for vehicle, foot and methods in multiple directions. I am using the terrain, thinking outside the box of roads and sidewalks. Rivers are my biggest obstacle with my family in tow as well as the somewhat open areas on this side of the state lacking underbrush and having large agriculture fields with short crops etc.
