ATMs stop working Sunday

Numerous financial institutions experienced problems with ATM machines Sunday morning, providing some insight into what it might look like if the President institutes a bank holiday, long rumored to be part of the globalist agenda to take down the U.S. dollar:

While I feel for those affected by the non-working ATMs - I can't help but think about folks who can't get their money during an emergency. During Hurricane Ivan, which devastated Pensacola, my sister said - you had to have cash for EVERYTHING! She had taken, what she considered more money than she would need, out of the bank. The banks and ATMs were down for over a month. The last week before the banking system was restored, she was very worried about running out of cash.

Everything was on a cash basis - gas - food - everything.

Unfortunately, most people, either did not get enough cash as part of their hurricane preps, or did not have the money in the first place. It was a major, major problem. A bank statement did absolutely no good. No electronic data - NO CASH - period.

i never noticed, i haven't used an ATM in years. as for banks shuttung down, that's fine with me. we have less than a thousand dollars in our bank...everything else is either at the house or already converted into tangible assets (prep and trade items).

something simular happened here on Saturday morning, the atm worked for deposits, but not withdrawals, and the Tellers would take deposits but not give out any money. They said there main computer was down, but the individual atms still partially functioned. It's better to have some cash in small bills, etc.

I've been hearing far too much lately about this... and along with everything else in our country and the state of our monetary system, I thought it best to pay all of my bills for this month now, then withdraw the rest and just leave about $50 in there for whatever. I also urged my (soon to be) father-in-law that he might do the same, just to be on the safe side... so he went to pull $10,000 from his account in cash today as well. I figured, it might be a little too overcautious... but I can ALWAYS deposit cash into my account as I need to pay bills online and such. It's better in my possession than locked up in some bank where I can't touch it, should things take a sour turn soon. If anything, I feel better now. :)

Doesn't hurt either, some might say, "Well, pennies in a hole don't earn interest." But it's not like it's earning much elsewhere either. Good for you... I'm on the side that gets to say, I don't have anything to withdraw anyway.

Turning surplus cash into trade goods seems like a good bet. All the wealth on paper or in a bank could be gone in a heartbeat. Scary!
I would not trust buying gold where you dont have it in hand. That is just more paper. What else could be used for barter or trade?
Some cash for sure, but in a real long term situation the purchasing power will take a big drop.

I trust gold very little, and paper money less. Let me explain. You need to buy yourself a fresh loaf of bread, how or where are you going to cash in that .5oz gold coin worth whatever the current rate is? I could honestly see people cashing in a single gold coin for less than $100 worth of real food. So I will let my little barter secret out of the bag.... ALCOHOL!! We have a substantial stockpile of whiskey and other hard liquor in storage. The thought, I would rather trade away a $30 bottle of whiskey for a few food items and maybe a few medical supplies, than an outrageously priced .5oz of gold. Not to mention, you gotta find somebody willing to accept that little piece of gold, and trust that it is real.

Im betting, I will get more bartering done with alcohol, than you will with your .5oz gold pieces... :)
