  • My Brother May Finally be Coming Around

We've had conversations about SHTF, other than my own kids he is the only one who knows I prep. About four years ago it was always, "The economy can't collapse - the government will keep it together." Then on a camping trip last May he admitted economic collapse was possible and that things were going south fast. Now he is complaining about runaway spending and other government craziness almost as much as I am. He always tends toward thinking everything will magically work out in the end but hopefully he is seeing the writing on the wall now.

My brother and his kids stay at my house every other weekend. Last night I was watching the History Channel series "After Armageddon" on youtube. I hadn't ever seen it before. My computer is in the living room so he and his 13 year old son pulled up chairs and we watched the whole show together. Captive audience, I don't have TV so he couldn't watch the game. :o Anyway the show made for a good conversation starter. I think the fact that it was a History Channel show made it more palatable somehow lending it more authority, LOL. Whatever, he watched the whole thing and we were able to discuss possible scenarios, mistakes made by the family, etc.

Of course there are faults to be found with the show. But as far as a tool for pointing out how disasterous being in the city will be when SHTF it was pretty good. Take home message - City is not where you want to be when it all goes to heck in a handbasket.

Here is the first part of the nine part youtube series. I'd like to see if I can get him to read the book "One Second After" next.
