  • Here is a "what if" for you...

My friend Rockriver likes to pose the hypothetical "what if (fill in the blank)" to stimulate discussion. Well, what if this Tuesday the elections upset the triad of power (White House, Senate & House of Representatives) and they no longer are controled by the left wing liberals? That could mean the free ride could slow down for a lot of people. What about the lame duck congress if that happens? What will they try to ram through in the dead of night before they leave DC? If the free ride looks like it is coming to an end, the housing projects could get loud. If it looks like the unions won't get there cut of the tax pie they could disrupt the whole country (as in France). If congress goes ahead with the plan to nationalize IRA and 401k accounts the folks that have done without the new Beemer to save a little for a rainy day won't be happy. Me thinks after I leave the polls on my way home from work on Tuesday I will top off the tank. Got a few vittles and an extra box or two of shells around here somewhere. Paranoid? Maybe. Prepared? I like to think I am. How about you, my friend?

Well I for one would like to see the GOP take back both houses and see if they really do "cut spending" and repeal (sp) the ObamaCare.

But that being said, the polls everyday are showing more and more positive for democrats.
Now, voter fraud is being accused alot as well. And I hate the idiots who say there is no way they can steal elections with digital voting devices. One of the manufacturers software gurus has testified inthe past that anything that uses software vs mechanical voting CAN BE MANIPULATED, and worse, can be done so where the person casting the vote sees a checkmark for Republican, but records it for Democrat.

This country has not, and perhaps never will, learn its lesson about voter fraud. Hell one state, PA I believe has 300 absentee ballots being cast from a single address. WHAT THE HELL (oh, and all were cast for the Democrat, imagine that)...

So, I think Tuesday some Republicans will win (they cant so boldly make it a cake walk for Dems) but they will NOT win both houses, and I would even go as far as saying they will not win one house super majority. They way I remember it from HS was super majority = they can pass any bill without ANY support from Dems or independants. Kind of like Dems use to have until very recently.

So I am thinking Tuesday will be nothing but alot of yelling and screaming, but Wednesday morning, back to the same old grind...

But I could be wrong, and my wishes could come true... Maybe I should wish for that new Ferrari too? hehehe

    Peace Out!

I hope the Republicans take both houses but it will probably be just one. It won't matter much anyway as the democRATS still control the White House and Comrade Osama will veto anything rolling back his agenda.

The thing that troubles me the most is the lame duck session if the democRats lose big. They will try to ram through everything the commie in chief wants regardless of what we the people want. Watch out for Cap and Trade.

I doubt you'll have to worry about the free ride people just yet. When ya start cutting their programs THEN it's time to lock and load.

Only God knows the outcome. I will do my part as I am sure the rest of you here will also.

Got an email from Corp. Benefits saying that our health insurance is going up, hasn't gone up since 2006, hmmm so much for making my insurance premium cheaper. Just another lie, can't increase coverage and not make the premiums go up, duh even my 2 year old can figure that one out.

              "GREAT POST"

              hey..
i got a question for you guys..
i read on the internet, where this guy has a concern about election day and/or shortly thereafter..
i hadn't really thought about it..
              but
What if ole Gordon's antennae have picked up on something.
even if it's not "that day"
one could make a good case for the next few short months.
              --
congress - yep, i'm expecting them to make all kind of moves, negative for the country moves.
some will have a pretty face on them.
some just out of downright meanness.
the clinton crowd crashed/trashed the gov't offices.
the current admin has less character/ethics/concern for the country than clinton's bunch.

i need to raise my warning flag for this time period...

i'm guessing the welfare folks will be quiet. it will take a while to unwind that snake. if the republicans do unwind it. i think the whole country is scared to touch that issue...
the unions are only looking out for themselves, and they do what they are told. i could see them causing a national strike.

I'll throw another one in the hat....

what if, just after the election, the Fed Reserve meets and establishes QE2 (they meet Nov. 3rd). Trillions of dollars going once again to bailout "the too big to fail companies". And let's say the GOP did win in the elections and, as Gordon says, the free ride slows down. Now we have the entitlement society not receiving the hand-outs and the dollar taking a dive....or, let's say the Dems stay in control and QE2 is still in effect. More entitlements will be handed out and the the dollar still takes a beating. WOW, the way I see it, it doesn't look pretty either way...

                    Just my 2....uh, I mean 1 cent

I have an on-going argument with a friend. My position is that if you print money with nothing behind it, you create inflation. His argument is that in order to have inflation, you have to have demand. I think he's winning this one. Nobody is spending money right now. The banks aren't loaning it, (they have to have x amount on hand to meet their reserve requirement) and nobody is getting an increase in their credit limit. A LOT of people have "hunkered down" and are squeezing Lincolns. I know I am.

Okay, with QE II, the fed prints up a bunch more toilet paper and passes it out to their friends. What effect does that really have? I know China, who holds MASSIVE amounts of paper, isn't going to be pleased. I've heard in several places that they're seriously considering dumping their dollars. The question there would probably be, "To who?" Who is going to buy worthless paper? I can easily see gasoline going to $5 a gallon, not because they're charging more for it, but because the dollar isn't worth what it was. We'll all feel that one, whether it's a dem or a rep in office.

Maybe the real question here is how does the economy go away if there is no inflation? Did I answer my own question?

OK, more than 20+ years sense economy class, but all you need to have inflation is to have a currency being produced with nothing to back it in order for said government to pay a debt.

Example, when the government prints money then uses that money to pay its own debt.
This over abundance and abuse of the FED causes the value of the dollar to drop on the international level.

Which in turn makes more things prices to raise outside the standard supply and demand equation.
Thus you can now buy less things with said dollar, or the way many measure inflation: How was the current price of a gallon of milk and loaf of bread effected?

But hey, I could be way off here, been a LOOOOOONG time since I took that class...

Yeah Klayton, that is how it works. I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head with inflation. And even without fraud through the voting machines, maybe there will be more new black panther types simply hanging around and intimidating voters. And let's not forget about all the military absentee ballots that aren't going to be counted. The lame duck session could be scary. We could get cap and trade, the financial transaction tax, a value added tax, theft of 401Ks and all kinds of other good stuff. Then, as more and more people, who actually work, have more and more of their money taken away and redistributed as the Gov't sees fit, they could start flipping out. After all, when the ballot box stops working, some folks might start voting from the rooftops, right? If you add in some unexpected disaster most people aren't planning on or thinking about, it might just be enough to push whichever group it may be, over the edge. And Gordon, as far as being paranoid, it's like this: My doctor says a little paranoia is healthy. I'm just healthier than most. Things might get real interesting before too long.

Show your friend this... It came from a website called theeconomiccollapseblog.com.

                              Early Signs of Inflation
We are already seeing inflation in many sectors of the economy.
                              a) Airline fares for the holiday season are up 20 to 30 percent above last year's rates.
                              b) Double-digit increases in health insurance premiums are being reported from coast to coast.
                              c) The price of food has been quietly sneaking up even at places like Wal-Mart.

Meanwhile the U.S. government insists that the rate of inflation is close to zero. Anyone who actually believes the government inflation numbers is living in a fantasy world. The U.S. government has been openly manipulating official inflation numbers for several decades now - but we really haven't seen anything yet. As increasingly larger amounts of paper money are dumped into the economy, we are eventually going to see the worst inflation in American history.

3 Reasons Rampant Inflation is Coming

                              1. Expanding Monetary Base
Up to this point this dramatic expansion of the U.S. monetary base has not caused that much inflation because U.S. government borrowing has soaked most of it up and U.S. banks have been hoarding cash and have been building up their reserves. However, this situation will not last forever. Eventually all this cash will make its way through the food chain and into the hands of U.S. consumers.

                              2. Rising Commodity Prices
What is even more troubling is the dramatic spike in commodity prices that we have seen in 2010...In his recent column entitled "An Inflationary ****tail In The Making", Richard Benson listed many of the commodities that have seen extraordinary price increases over the past year....
Agricultural Raw Materials: 24%; Industrial Inputs Index: 25%; Metals Price Index: 26%; Coffee: 45%; Barley: 32%; Oranges: 35%; Beef: 23%; Pork: 68%; Salmon: 30%; Sugar: 24%; Wool: 20%; Cotton: 40%; Palm Oil: 26%; Hides: 25%; Rubber: 62%; Iron Ore: 103%

Now, as those price increases enter the chain of production do you think that there is any chance that they will not cause inflation? Do you think there is any chance at all that producers and retailers will not pass those costs on to consumers? It is time to face facts. Those cost increases are going to filter all the way through the system and your paycheck is soon not going to stretch nearly as far. Inflation is coming.

Many savvy investors understand what is going on right now. That is one reason why gold and silver are absolutely soaring at the moment.

                              3. More Quantitative Easing
Meanwhile, there are even more rumblings that the Fed wants to print lots more money. The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, William Dudley, stated recently that the high unemployment and the low inflation that the United States is experiencing right now are "wholly unacceptable....Further action is likely to be warranted unless the economic outlook evolves in such a way that makes me more confident that we will see better outcomes for both employment and inflation before long." In recent weeks it is almost as if you can hear Fed officials salivate as they consider the prospect of flooding the economy with even more money.

Up to this point, very little has worked to stimulate the dying U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve and the Obama administration are getting nervous as the American people become increasingly frustrated about the economic situation so will flooding the economy with even more money and causing even more inflation do the trick?

Well, no, but what inflated GDP figures will do is enable Obama and the Fed to say: "Look the economy is growing again!" but if a flood of paper money causes the value of goods and services produced in the U.S. to go up by 5 percent but the real inflation rate is 10 percent, are we better off or are we worse off? It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out so don't get fooled by "economic growth" numbers. Just because more money is changing hands doesn't mean that the U.S. economy is doing better.

What Inflation Means for The Average American
Many American families are going to be financially shredded by the coming inflation tsunami. Just think about it. How far will your paycheck go when a half gallon of milk is 10 dollars and a loaf of bread is 5 dollars? Already, it is incredibly difficult for the average American family of four to get by on $50,000 a year so how much money will we need when rampant inflation starts kicking in - and do you think that your employers will actually give you pay raises to keep up with all of this inflation? Not in these economic conditions.

                              Conclusion
Whatever wealth you and your family have been able to scrape together is going to continue to be whittled away month after month after month by the hidden tax of inflation - and, unfortunately, as discussed above, inflation is about to get a whole lot worse.

Is there any room for optimism? Is there any hope that we will not see horrible inflation in the years ahead?

Also, I posted this at my blog a while back...

If you bought a $20 item in 1913, that same item would cost you $61.82 in 1963 and would be $441 today! You can refer your friend to http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ (Remember, Inflation is a hidden tax.) Inflation has been happening for years, I think it is just going to get worse...very quickly.
