  • Shot show 2022

Just got back from Shot. Been a lot of scuttlebutt that the show was going to be cancelled at last minute -it wasn't.

Several last exhibitors did cancel, some in the last 2 weeks or less. This includes huge manufacturers like Colt, Beretta (who owns like 5 other gun companies), etc.

So there was definitely a LOT of empty space.

With booth space being insanely expensive you would think they wouldn't cancel after paying months ago. But when you consider some of these big boys bring out 100+ employees to work their booths, each one requiring a plane ticket, hotel room, meals and per deim, etc. Then it seems like letting $20K go on a booth isn't a big deal. With rooms at any hotels remotely near the show running $300. or more per night if booked and paid for six months ago, the show gets very costly.

First day I took a pic of the "flow" in towards the show from the Venetian and Palazzo

Which seemed to me to be about 90% of normal.

By Wednesday the crowd seemed smaller and by Thursday afternoon it wasn't uncommon to see exhibitors just hanging around their booths without doing a lot. Some of these same places you couldn't get near on Tuesday.

Nevada has the face diaper mandate.... and a lot of internet warriors that wouldn't have/couldn't have (they don't just let anyone in to Shot) proclaimed how it was a travesty of liberty to be required to wear a mask at the show. From what we have observed being out in Vegas a couple of times last year for shows was that very few actually enforce this non sense. I didn't see as many motorized scooters with 500 lb. dudes laden down with tacti-cool patches.

Being as I got covid the first go around at Shot 2020 and usually leave there in year's past holding some bug I know this is a major place to get and pass various cooties.

So far so good on that front.

As you can imagine prices on damn near everything have gone up considerably.
