The pistol that this kid holds up In his photos. It's a bb gun note orange muzzle !. Did the school drop the ball?. And my 2 cents , the dot gov people never should have stopped the cops in school program. As soon as the grant expired my town got rid of the program. They did have an officer stop by 2-3 times a week but, rolled it in with DARE. Now at least some schools allow teachers to carry.Peace be with the families and god support them. What do youall think will happen now!!!.

The feds had a program that paid 3/4 of wage/bennies of officers for 3 years. One was COPS the other was COPS in School. It was part of the community policing program. It worked, so of course they let it run out, Local .gov were supposed to keep the officers an added 3 years but most did not and it died away. The police were never meant to do all the leg work , only to assist the people to process and help capture criminals. Don't get me going on SWAT, in the old days every road patrol (was Swat) took care of the problem, did very well at it. We actually walked a beat/ck doors/ etc. Talk to people every day, have coffee , help old ladies. This still happens somewhat but not enough. (carry) I have had more then one officer tell me , I can carry a gun I'M TRAINED but a regular guy NO WAY. what a bunch of BS . I had to use a mallet on one deputies 38 pocket gun to tap out the green dead shells from his pocket snuby. All he ever did was spray the gun down (WD40) and wipe excess off . I had officers that could not hit a B-27 target at 4 yds. I am glad I retired out, long ago. Back on schools every person should tell the local PD they want a school cop every day, pester the county/city/twp. Forget the state they are to stuck up. Just my 2 cent's.

I did the fl pistol eval years back. Since a buddy was a local PD range RO /trainer for his department.
It was a joke. He knew it, but said that all they required of them.
I can see why and have seen LEO with that " we are trained..you civilians are not " attitude.
Its said. But attitude of officers has changed a bunch.
Not saying a us vs them mentality. But it's darn close.

I have this feeling there is going to be more crap from this latest drug induced psycho rage.

If you've been sitting on the fence about that new rifle, or are sitting with low ammo stocks, this is the time. Prices are at decade plus lows on a lot of stuff. Take the gap or be one of the ones complaining about high prices and "price gouging" later when the opportunity is missed.

I am very critical of the newer officers as youall have already figured out. There are a lot of fine officers out there. Some bad. But the training stinks. The only people without their noses in it are OSHA, I expected them 30 years ago. Most officers are now trained or have been over the last 15-20 years to call swat. Well as I have said before, the road guys were swat, it is over used ,and should be used for few calls. Officers are to sit in a safe place and wait. I can't tell you how many arguments I have had with the state police over this. These 4 officers likely were following orders from the PC sheriff. Even up here were you don't have back up , deputies and officers will wait. In the past I had no back up, and it was wait and let someone die or go. Heck, my wife used to ride with me to calls I took out of the house, it helped that she was a SFC in the army and knew her way around a AR15 and was not afraid to use it. The sheriff also wanted her to go with me when a women was involved as he had no sworn female deputies and still does not. Should these officers have gone in YES! could they have been injured YES! but modern times have changed law enforcement, if you point it out they' the other officers will try and condemn you, not all but some . Blame the officers if you must , BUT blame the politicos and the boss's the most, That sheriff and the dem's have to go. If that coach had a carry gun and shot the kid at once , half the country would say OK great!! other half would say poor child and would be dragging out photos from when he was 10 years old, to crucify the coach. Just my 2 cents

Wanna know a good way to PO a LEO without saying a word?
Take a "Big name" training class, namely advanced pistol. Have said LEO stand up and pronounce all his training and pedigree and spread his feathers like a peacock. During classroom portion and show and tell he drops the ball a few times but knows the lingo and did above average. Now the bragging really starts as we enter the range portion of training. First he doesnt have the correct number of magazines that were required for class, 5 or more were the required amount. He brought 4, lots of waiting for him to load mags during range time. He continues to brag about top of his class shooting at academy and blah blah blah. First static run on targets to go over live fire range commands his target looks like a shotgun hit it. He then sweeps a student and also starts commenting on yours truly's targets and two of my friends... guy cant believe we are grouping so tight and must be beginners luck. Ray trys to help him with some pointers and he didnt want to hear any of it. He really becomes discouraged and upset saying we must be some sort of ex SF or the like. were like nope just practice and shoot a lot.
Im not LEO bashing, love those guys and know several that are excellent shooters... But this guy was POed because civillians out shot him a highly trained LEO...

We get similar in the gym- "I did Take Ya Dough for six months, and I sparred twice in that time and got my black belt"

That's great sugar kitten, now be quiet the adults are talking.

Come sparring time they are humbled, usually by the smallest, youngest person in class.

Moral of the story, keep your mouth shut, let your work speak for you. Setting yourself up for a fall whenever you brag.

People tend to surprise you. We have a 100 lb.'ish female that will kick your arse six ways to Sunday. Very nice, polite and feminine.

I've seen big 250'ish guys thinking she would be an easy roll, some got early nap times.

The same day I did that test with my buddy. Three other officers shower up. We all Shot for an your or so. Bs'd etc.
Other pd weren't half as good as my buddy or me.

Other way I found out how to tee off a LEO is tell them that their vest won't stop x51 AP. But then again.... brews we're involved on both sides...and talk went to how "civilians shouldn't have giggle switches or ARs..." ..... they found out I wasn't LEO kinda quick at that bbq. Lol.
But it's always one..who's attitude is my dogs bigger than yours...that starts it I've seen.
Kinda predictable.
