no internet... water several feet deep between me and road.

I've gotten complacent that internet will always be here..
duh.
storm hit our area this week. lightning or surge or something took out modem..
no internet. no Roku. called carrier that I thought was local... where do I go to get new modem?
they kept saying they would send it to me. when I pressed, I learned person on lphone and modem were in Ontario!!

new one isn't here yet... i'm working with a unit that a neighbor loaned me! an extra he had. buying him and his bride a steak Saturday night!

creek got out of bank. we had 5+ inches of rain in just a few hours... the creek does this a time or two a year... but this time water got 2 ft higher than ever before.
i didn't want to drive truck through water. carpet would have gotten wet i think.
we have access to a tractor, but easier just to wait it out, and that worked... the next morning.. water just a few inches deep.

bottom line - 2 events. water and lightning. both showed their ability to cause disruption in our lives.
