Will the people return

I listened with interest to the speech given in Detroit yesterday. The idea of getting business back to the Detroit area. Listening to the people who still live in the area, I have found that the only business that young males of the area, that is, the ones who want to work, is to tear down the old buildings for scrap metal. Some people have been removing and storing some of the old machinery that may be used for future manufacturing in the PAW. City planners have said that Detroit needs to be broken up several smaller cities, because currently, a police call takes about an hour to be answered. When fire departments get a call, they look at the maps and may let a building burn if it isn't near an occupied neighborhood because they don't have the manpower to serve all calls in the area. A very bleak existence to be sure. With a business person's hat on, property values stink in the area, so what a great place to put a manufacturing facility, as long as Uncle Sam clears the area for you. The question is, where are the people going to come from to work there? A large number of people that would be the of the age and skills have already left the area. Homes are not being built, current homes go for cheap, but who would want to live in America's version of Lebanon? I can see in my mind's eye, another WPA or CCC , Detroit style. Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, etc., have decided to move to the south where the workers are plentiful, and the unions are not. Toyota moved their headquarters from Kalifornia to Texas because of Taxes. Is Detroit worth saving?

no one is going back to Detroit. America might well regain manufacturing jobs, but they will be in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina....................not in the rust belt.

Detroit is just waiting for the refugees to get there and set up Sharia law.

Sheepdog, you have it correct. Former Pres. Klinton made a speech yesterday saying that the Syrian refugees are the answer.

yeah, I saw that and said..."d@mn"...but really, who didn't see that coming? Instead of letting the homeless/unemployed go back in and rebuild it the Marxists want to bring in a whole other group of "people" with their own morals (or lack of), belief system, diseases, etc. I wouldn't be surprised that it will happen and our tax payer funds will be given out to them to rebuild and set up a new culture city that will end up being a terrorist breeding ground.
