I have gotten into trouble a few times with credit cards..
and then we cut them up and get back on track...
resulting in our taking the position that if we ain't got it (cash) then we don't buy it...
--
but i'm seeing so many credit card companies offering 1 to 5% back on purchases.
so if I pay with cash, i'm penanlized.
and I've started watching other purchasers at restaurants, gas stations, wally world etc...
seems like everyone is settled into using plastic.
I tried to use an old card recently. expired... I had a new one in my billfold, and was sure that the card should be valid..
bottom line... I couldn't buy without a proper card.
what do we do? buy now. increase the things that I don't need to buy... for example... go ahead and get a .22 rifle and get some more fruit trees in the ground..
I sure want to see other folks answer to this question... with Hillary the likely winner, it's coming sooner than later.

I'm putting any extra cash into normal preps. Like!
nails, Iuse em
screws Can't make em
The B&B of trade and use,
Hint beans!
Hit the local ethnic and specialty food stores, they carry dried mushrooms noodles and other stuff that can be stored, and try it once first a lot of it is very good.
FOOD that I like that will store, can, dry, powder spices, etc. This will last a long time and only buy what you like to eat, then buy a few things to trade off.
wife smokes/tobacco Vacuum pack or get in glass if you can , myler pack is good as is the products that come in box's with plastic and foil packs inside.
booze , ever clear can work for many things
OK by now you get the idea, if you can't make it get it now. You all are going to laugh at me but I always have a fe pairs of panty hose and calf high women nylons on hand . Use for carry things, make juice of berries, first strain of water etc. Try to set aside a bit of cash every week because for a short time stores will go back to cash after/if the plastic crash's.
ONLY my 2 cents.Last edited by cpt_sfc; 08-07-2016, 10:49 AM.

cpt's post with the mention of panty hose made me think of all these WWII shows where the troops are trading panty hose for things.
Now a days, do women even wear them? What was hard to find about them? Now a day what replaces that? Booty shorts? Tank tops that show cleavage? Flip flops with the little fake jewels on them?www.homesteadingandsurvival.com

Flip Flops now that is something I did not think about, Fall sales here I come. do you know what a pair of those would be worth to someone without shoes. Heck half the world wears them in one form or another or they make stuff out of them. I used to keep the upper and lower tight with a pc of flip flop in the old days 60-70s before they made the rubber wedge. Now I use a pc of surgical tubing under the rear pin.

I may be wrong here but I think the wwII pantyhose thing was because they were made from silk and so were parachutes so there was a shortage on the home front.. as far as what to stock now for barter.. im betting on antibiotics, OTC meds, ar15 parts kits, seeds, extra food especially grains, beans and rice.

I agree on all but AR parts. Except for your own if you are out in nowhere. Otherwise the access to weapons should be ample. Being in 2 war zones, black market parts as well as just stuff to pick up or find is easy . If you win the fire fight!!, if not the other side will have your parts gun no matter what it is. And the ammo , gear , etc. The panty hose idea is for, filter, wear for warmth, I wish they made it with a fly , it makes great winter wear under or over the thinsulate, trade, Hold bandages in place , stifle lower body blood flow in some cases , lots of uses . Back to flip flops , I think that was a great idea, wish I thought of it. BUT you are right one should have a kit of easily broken parts for one weapons or a back up for it. Same with mags, All this costs and how do you store all this stuff. Always a problem. I need a index and system to find it. I started using the AR in 1969 did not like it , they are way better now. GOT a M-14 from a guy rotating for a 20 dollar bill w/20 mags. Had to break down m-60 belts for ammo from time to time, but always was around somewhere. I was not a line grunt and no one ever ? why I had it.

Don't forget booty shorts with messages on them, available at "dollar stores." If the US doesn't have cash, how can we pay third world dictators ransom for hostages? They really need to think this one over.Last edited by Bill Foster; 08-09-2016, 07:25 AM.

Women wanted silk stockings because they wanted them, yes there was a shortage but the women wanted what they wanted, period. That is from my Dad who lived during the great dep. Like a box of 22 shells went for an once of gold and tires , car parts were tops for trade. He also said tobacco and booze went for hi prices so did chocolate. That is why he ran booze from Canada to Detroit , Made a good living during the time and prohibition , he passed in 1970 and he had been around a bit. He saved everything and reused it over and over. I can't even look at a bent nail as I recall the thousands I pounded back straight. From ww1 to 1970 he was in 48 of the 50 states, never made it to ALK. or HI. When they had a pig they used everything but the oink.

for a great example of what useful idiots are promoting a cashless society check out the Venus project. These clowns ACTUALLY believe this nonsense...
https://www.thevenusproject.com/
OOh and here is the truly HILARIOUS part.. They advocate a society free of a monetary system, a truly needs based society. Yet, they have a store where they accept real genuine US FRN's.. like $100 for their book:eek:Last edited by justanothergunnut; 08-13-2016, 07:19 PM.
