Every war begins usually with small actions. Sometimes this is called "civil disobedience." Sometimes it's "peaceful protests." Later as things move forward there are random acts of violence. Further there is more planned acts of violence- ambushes, sniping attacks, etc. These are all a challenge to the rule of law and can be actually looked at as part of the middle stages of a COLLAPSE.

I'm re-reading "Five stages of collapse" by Orlov and darn if we are not WAY further ahead in the time line when we were when I first read the book a few years ago.

A coordinated sniper attack, using a "peaceful demonstration" as cover.

Guys, I hope no one is falling into normalcy bias here, this is NOT NORMAL for the good ole USA.

Further, we've had our gubmint "leaders" show themselves that they have no damn respect for the rule of law. So why then should the "little man" who's already "disgruntled" about this, that or the other?

Downtown Dallas was in lockdown early Friday after snipers shot 12 officers, five fatally, during a protest over deadly police shootings of black men elsewhere.

Three people were in custody and a fourth suspect exchanged gunfire with authorities in a parking garage at El Centro College into the morning, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said. The shooter was killed by a detonation device in a standoff with police in the garage, Brown said.

Meanwhile, a fifth police officer has died of their injuries, the Dallas Police Department said.

It appeared to be the deadliest attack on law enforcement in the U.S. since the 9/11 attacks.

Brown shared comments from the suspect during a press conference Friday morning. Police negotiated with the suspect for hours before sending in a robot-like device, equipped with a bomb, which eventually killed the shooter, Brown said.

During negotiations, the shooter told Dallas police "he was upset about 'Black Lives Matter'. He was upset about the recent police shootings. He was upset at white people," Brown said at the press briefing.

The suspect also said he wanted to kill people, "especially white officers" but was not affiliated with any particular group and "did this alone", Brown said.

The Dallas Police Department Chief addressed other possible suspects, and said "we will find you... we will prosecute you."

Dallas police shooting: 'Black Power group' claims responsibility for police killings and warns of more assassinations to come

A self-proclaimed black power group appears to have claimed responsibility for the assassinations of five police officers at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas.

Five officers were gunned down by at least two shooters who picked out officers from an 'elevated position' - believed to be a multi-storey car park.

It came in the week of public outrage over the deaths of two black men shot by police.

The Black Power Political Organisation wrote on its Facebook account that it was behind the attack and that 'more assassinations are coming'.

The message - posted in the aftermath of the shootings - said: "#BlackPower! #BlackKnights! Sniper Assassins Take Down Five Police Officers! And More Will Be Assassinated In The Coming Days! Do You Like The Work Of Our Assassins? Get Your Own Sniper Rifle And Join Our Thousands Of Sniper Assassins Worldwide In The Fight Against Oppression!”

The message has since been taken down - it is not yet known if it was removed by Facebook or the group itself.

Days ago the group had left an ominous message pledging to get 'revenge' for the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling - who was shot repeatedly while being pinned to the ground in an incident captured on mobile phone footage.

I work in a mostly inner city enviorment (98%). The people I talk to are murderers, thieves rapist etc. The employees are also mostly urban but educated. I'm actually one of the least educated ;). Anyway, the majority state that it's going to be a long hot summer and even more.
I've upgraded my EDC car bag and my head is even on more of a swivel than before.

Top off..... AND get what you may not get in the near future.

I see ballistic protection and Kevlar vests soon to be highly restricted, if not illegal for civilians.
Bare minimum, get a Level II soft kevlar vest for everyone in your family. Used ones are still cheap on eBay, or go new, but move on these fast. It won't take the Destroyers long to ban this, and the R's won't care and it will be unanimous vote. But know what you are buying on eBay, many are just CARRIERS, not with kevlar panels. Many are also just panels without carriers. Buyer be aware.

Also get ballistic HARD PLATES, like the lightweight panels JRH sells. Ceramic composites are light but expensive. If you can't swing the price tag for lightweight, top-line plates, get AR500 steel plates WITH A COATING to stop spalling. They are heavy, but work to protect against 7.62mm NATO ball rounds.

Maybe 1ADMIN and others more familiar can chime in with more info.

I also think it will be very hard for Republicans to resist some kind of assault weapon ban this time around. You have 5 dead cops and a video of the guy EFFECTIVELY using a semi-auto, military-style weapon and high-capacity magazines, even if his tactics were somewhat flawed. People saw a cop gunned down from the back, then executed in the head. This will be enormous pressure on DC and State legislatures. Now may be that time for a somewhat "collectible" and value-keeping long gun, like a real Colt AR15-A4 and others with name brand recognition.

I hope I am wrong, but I think a barrier has been breached by the anti-gunners that may be hard to refortify until after the elections. I also don't see "The Donald" resisting "compromise" legislation against "assault weapons" and "High capacity" magazines.
