Re: negative interest rates-
Really? WHO is going to riot?
Let me cue him in on a few things- I'm early 40's, very few "normal" people may age and below have that much money period right now. Not "money in the stock market." Not, "money in the bank", but MONEY PERIOD.
Typically what population segment is the ones starting things, fighting, etc? Historically, it's usually the below 30'ish younger crowd
So who as a large population segment HAS any money for these sobs to steal? The near retirement age or the already retired population segment. THEY are going to "riot in the streets?" Is he expecting "Gray Dawn?"
Surely TPTB have thought this through as the next big "heist" that they pull. Stopping/slowing welfare freebees? Hell no, they won't do that, those folks actually WILL riot. Steal some crap from the old folks that are too old, broken, set in life to fight back? Oh definitely they will do that. And the other major demographic, the 30 and 40 somethings still working, trying to sock a few dollars away, yeah we will get hit too, but will we "riot in the streets" over it? No, we will probably just stash more in cash and trust the gubmint even less (possible?? LOL)
I've heard so many financial guys say that the poor interest rates the last ten years have hurt the fixing to retire and already in retirement phase folks. Why? Cause .01% is crap and they have to get some market exposure, take more risk to get a better return. In doing so many have lost in 08 and again recently. And quite possibly, they will lose again here soon.
I think it's time to break into the rest home and get some reinforcements.
"Hi Clara, the revolution has come. Would you like a gun?"
"Oh yes dear thanks."
I think there’s going to be a major revolt… If we actually do see negative interest rates in North America… we’re going to see riots"
