  • Things are accelerating, are you?

Down 530 today, probably up a bit Monday, but the slow general course will be down for a while (looking back at MONTHS not a few days) I'd guess.

    Things are accelerating, are YOU?

Is it all just "lists" and "lists of lists" of crap you have never purchased, of things you have never done?

To paraphrase Shakespeare- "survivalists should be made of sterner stuff!"

How's your cash situation? Paying off debt or wracking it up?

    PT anyone?

I'll start closer to home- got any new optics that need zeroing? When was the last time (year LOL) you cleaned your rifle?

It's the weekend, most of us have time, do something productive with it.

Breaking down medical supplies I just picked up and making a set of Amsteel whoopie hammock slings for another forum member. Going through all my rechargeable AA batteries and recharging as needed. Also working on the design for a 12vdc portable power pack...

I have been non-stop, little time for typical "training" stuff... Finished a home remodeling project, dug out pathways under my house crawlspace to utilities, like my water filters, pressure tanks, etc... Dug out for a storage tank soon. Noticed the water heater leaking. Pulled that out, dig it all out, and made a nice place for the new water heater that isn't balanced on rocks like the previous owners setup. I was a Mexican tunneler, for sure... Lots of 5-gallon buckets getting filled, dragged out, and dumped.

Just spent three days putting redwood paneling in my shop that has been studs and insulation since 2010... The score on that Redwood 4x8 panels at the Habitat Store was a great find!

I am BEAT! I can't do anymore.... Who needs a gym when you have homestead projects? But I have still been prepping here and there as best as I can. Plan to focus more on it now that projects are just about over...

Moved retirement money into US bonds last month, so as protected as my work plan allows.... No PM options...

Filling up the nooks and crannies with can food goods and mylar sealed sugar, salt, beans, and other stuff...

Got woo'ed into a Harbor Freight 40w solar panel set by the Super Coupon sale... LOL!

I am satisfied with where I am, but never stopping...

Well you called me out on a few of these... Still whittling away at the debt. No new purchases. Adding adding adding... wheres that rich uncle most of those PAW stories incorporate at the last minute of prepping, just as its about to hit the fan?

Don't know about rich Uncles, but Father Time helps quite a bit- over time.

...and right there is the answer! Keep adding to you preps, whether its goods or knowledge, like your life depends on it...because it just may!

Doing some replacement of soffit and facia here, followed by some wiring for additional solar, then additional attic insulation.

I have been 'getting ready' for many years. All reasonable preps are made, plans in place, gear ready.

It's not really a prep but we are replacing the carpet in my house with Pergo wood flooring. Even found it on sale. Adds value to the home and easier to keep clean. Plus. I absolutely hate carpet. Next year I have to replace at least one of my house heaters and been thinking of removing the gas fireplace insert and converting it back to wood. Gas isn't hooked up to it anyway.

Personally I would have held off on the new fancy floors and replaced the gas heater or at least added wood heating ability... just me I'm sure but pergola doesn't keep me warm in the winter

Wish I could have the heater replaced but being fall time and the fact I have two. They are more expensive this time of year. I also live in the city and we sometimes have weird air ordnances where we can get fined for using a wood fireplace. So I can't relie on it for heat like wish. I do however want to put in solar eventually. I was going to live out in the country/ homestead/ self sufficient but when I was looking for a place. My best friend and her family were about to be homeless. All nine of them. So I'm stuck right now. Eventually I will have my dream though and I don't have a mortgage. Sorry for the story. This is the wrong place for it.
