I bid in the last 10 minutes, when it was $24.14 I realized something was quite a miss but figured $25. max bid. Thankfully someone else -or many- bid more, a good bit more

Looks to me like the bar itself was not marked, but the assay card says it on the back.

    wow..
at first I figured this should have gone for 1100 to 1150..

then realized it is just coated..

    deceptive as all heck...
415 bidder is gonna diss in his britches when he sorts this out.
then again, he may just toss it in the safe and forget about...
bidder will die, kids will find it...
they'll sell it for 90% of gold price at the going rate at that time.

shoot I may still have missed the whole story...
    someone fill me in..

      Naw, that was serious ripoff.

Stuff like that's the reason I paid out of pocket for a full set of Fisch wallets.

That's many of the international banks use to detect fake gold coins.

Was kinda purty tho wasn't it?

I'm thinking someone unscrupulous could take it out of the assay card- which looked like the only place it mentioned "brass or lead." Then put some wear on it and trade it some day in the PAW.

I don't put anything past people.

I don't think it will take that long (PAW)... I think the buyer, if he is not 100% ignorant of what he just bought, plans on scamming it off on someone else as soon as he can, pocket the ill-gotten profit.

Glad you got out-bid on that scam. "Gold shroud" in the title was the first warning... ;)

Yep, the words "shroud" and "layering" raised my suspicion.
