which reminds me of a story...
I have some friends that are known to a few folks on this board...
the wife is very friendly and nice. she does not have a look of "I'm gonna kill all you bad dudes"

I've seen her shoot. I was amazed at her ability with the rifle that she'd never seen/held before.
after a brief handgun drill one day, when again I was impressed with her skills, I asked "what would you do,
if I threatened to harm your husband?" and I stepped behind the husband as if to restrain him and harm him.
her face immediately went serious and she stated. "I will kill you!"
you guys have seen the ventriloquist jeff dunham and his puppet achmed.. who says "I will kill you."
wife was quicker...
I believe her..

that is the story that I was curious about regarding "teddy bear"

background.. the greeks had just burnt a bank with some of their own villagers in the bank.
they died. my question to menfolk was... if you saw your wife in a bank that rioters had set on fire
and the rioters were still thick around the bank would you go rescue her? would you shoot into the crowd to make a path for yourself? would you drive your truck into the crowd? etc...
most men that I asked this question gave me a long answer...
but the bottom line was.. they weren't sure, and probably wouldn't... they might get hurt!!

I wanted to see if teddy bear had made a decision about shooting the perp to possibly save her husband.. had she already considered the possibility of someone attacking him
of someone threatening him and insisting she lay her gun down.
she had already decided! there was not going to be any wasted time as she considered her course of action.
no crying and pleading and praying and gnashing of teeth and other postponing and pitiful tactics.

What you touched on is the bane (hope that's spelled right) of the current prepper movement.

People will spend months, even YEARS, doing "research" on a certain topic but never come to a DECISION, never take ACTION. Now I'm gonna tell you, most of these are NOT life ending or even drastically life changing decisions.

Therein begins a PATTERN, the pattern of INACTION, wherein it's "let's examine the situation" and then ask 47 people, post stuff like "what's the best color for my bug out bag?" on forums, etc. REALLY? Can't YOU make a decision?

Yet the very act of "doing research" in some people's mind is the same as DOING SOMETHING. It's not.

ACTION is the key word. "Doing research" is not action, it's part of preparation, preparing to ACT. Whether it's move to the country, get in shape, buy a new rifle, etc. I'm NOT discounting the planning process. But if you just sit there, doing nothing aka "research", that's all your have when the time comes- nothing.

Further, we aren't always going to have the time to collect all the data, mull over a minor decision for 84 weeks or ask 23 people what they think about something before we act.

Consider the scenario RR played out. Wait, and she dies. Ask everyone else there, pull up the internet and read about it, watch it on TV, she dies.

My wife responded that way cause that's how my family is.

Getting moving is often the most important part, plans can be changed in mid stream, energies re-directed, etc. But when hours are wasted going "Mom's inside the bank and it's on fire, let's do some research on this", guess what, she dies.

Survivalists need to train themselves NOW to make decisions QUICKLY. Are you always going to be right? No and don't get me started on this unrealistic striving for perfection that these OCD (obsessive compulsive DEMONS, LOL) types are always talking about. Your never going to get perfection, get over it, grow up.
