Anyone seen it yet?
It's good, to me honestly better than the other two in that they explain more. So someone without a lot of information on these things could go and see the movie and kinda understand not so much Ayn Rand's philosophy but really more anti- big gubmint.
The music, probably should say muzac, is horribly done. Gives this disney type feel to parts of it.
A lot of it could be explained better. Galt gives Dagney three coins for an "advance" when he works for her. He had just told her the only thing they deal with in the valley is gold. Later Dagney is around this farmer's market and buys a croissant from a homeschooling mom at a little booth and hands her one of these coins.
The wife later says "she didn't get any change! Is a croissant $1300. there?" LOL. I told her if that's the case we better learn some damn good croissant recipes cause we are changing professions!!!
You see a little more of the power tripping from "da elite" in this one, and that's a good thing IMO. Unfortunately they are mostly old white men. I think we all realize the last 6 years have shown that's not completely true any more.... LOL
Galt's super power machine 4000 is "guarded" by speaking the right phrase to get into this little building it's in- Lord of the Rings style... Again a little cheesey. Acting is just above 12th grade Drama club standards.
Galt is captured towards the end and then all the sudden Dagney, Francisco and a few others are now commandos.... LOL The lights start going off in the decaying world as their chopper flies them back to the hidden valley. Movie ends and it says "this is just the beginning."
An old guy with a couple hundred lbs. of food storage that he carries with him starts clapping wildly at the end. I get it, he's clapping at the movie. However it's ironic, he's clapping basically at TS hitting TF. Now he may be super prepared for all I know, but I"m guessing with his health, he's gonna die within a week or so of true stress if/when something real ever happens.
Half the way home we discuss the paradox of people like that who seem to THINK they want civilization to collapse but probably live in suburbia totally dependent on someone else for their power, water, food, heat, not to even mention his terrible health due to poor choices. Yet he may think TS hitting TF will be fun, a "reset", "level the playing field", etc. No, it's just going to hasten his death. That's the reality of TS really HTF and it's nothing to clap about...
I wouldn't drive 2 hours to see the movie, wait for the DVD, but it's not bad.
