    QUARANTINE

It is IMPERATIVE that you read and understand the following information. "I didn't know" is NOT an excuse when we are dealing with LIFE THREATENING ISSUES!

    Policy and Procedures

For use in case of a Biological event, including but not limited to terrorist attack using biological weapons, Bird Flu, Smallpox or Rabid Chicken Accountants (RCA's) infected with AIDS....

The purpose of this is to limit the spread of a biological agent- virus, bacteria, etc. Since their is NO way to guarantee that anyone is not already a carrier of the agent, we MUST Quarantine . This is for the protection of EVERYONE! Their is no other way around it.

In very short order after a biological incident, you should go into full "lockdown" mode. What this means is that ANYONE attempting to cross into your land will be met with Lethal Force.

It is important to have a PLAN in place for your timely BUGOUT of populous areas and be ready to implement that plan with short notice. This means-
    1. You have your bulk supplies already pre-positioned at your retreat. This will cut down the amount of time you will have to spend "loading up" and will make sure you have SAFE and UNCONTAMINATED supplies when you arrive.
    2. You leave early enough to avoid the TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS the government has already said they would put in place when an outbreak occurs.
    3. You will have to avoid ANY contact while in route, that means you CANNOT stop at Walmart for a last minute stockup, you cannot stop and get gas at a gas station, etc. YOUR FAMILY'S SURVIVAL IS AT STAKE! Use your STORED gas and fill up in an out of the way place. Keep your windows up and RE-CIRCULATE the air in your car. If the situation is bad, you may want to travel in MOPP gear. Be prepared to use LETHAL FORCE against any persons who would come near your family. AVOIDANCE is our main protection against this threat.

When your retreat is in LOCKDOWN mode, no one, including family members and their families will be allowed in until they have had a 2 week quarantine period. LETHAL FORCE will be used against any and all intruders, including late arriving family members. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS, IT IS NO JOKE AND WILL BE ABSOLUTELY ENFORCED 110%

If you arrive late, follow these procedures-
    1. Use the "normal" entrance procedures, and do NOT have any contact with locals.
    2. Look for the "sign" that the retreat is already in Lockdown, the gates will also be locked and chained. Use your radio to call in and ask instructions. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES COME CLOSER THAN 30 FEET FROM THE WIRE OF THE RETREAT.
    3. You will be instructed as to where you are to camp for the 2 week Quarantine period and your time will start then. "We quarantine'd at home" doesn't cut it. You will HAVE to do a 2 week Quarantine period if you arrive late to the retreat, period.
    4. There will likely be others out camping not far from where you are instructed to camp at. You will be informed of the others and their approximate locations. DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH OTHER QUARANTINED family MEMBERS OR ANY MEMBER OF THE LOCAL POPULATION. You will be expected to radio in to the retreat once a day to report your medical condition. You will be required to maintain your own security, noise and light discipline.
    5. If you should "run out" of supplies or are in dire need of any materials, someone from the family will bring them to a dead drop location and leave them for you. You will need to RADIO in with your request, then wait no less than 1 hour after you've WATCHED the material being put out before you go and retrieve it. This cannot be done for you every day (we will run out of spots), so it is important that you plan ahead.

You will need to keep some basic camping gear for your family (tent, sleep bags, etc.) with your bug out gear, as well as TWO WEEKS food supply, water filtration device, radio with plenty of extra batteries, MEDICAL KIT, weapons, etc. You will be completely on your own for two weeks if you arrive late, plan ahead.

Family members are advised to pack a "bio box"- a tote or box of materials such as listed above that can be pre-positioned at the retreat NOW, that can later be put out as a dead drop for you if it's needed. Don't risk it, plan ahead.

When the two week period is over, you will have to abandon most of your supplies, their would be NO way for us to guarantee they are not CONTAMINATED (which is why it's important to PRE-POSITION the bulk of your gear at the retreat). You will then come into the retreat with minimal gear- weapons, etc. A thorough DECON will be necessary and the people at the retreat will have an area set aside for that ahead of time. You will have to decon and have a medical exam prior to entering the retreat after your Quarantine period.

THIS POLICY should go for ANYONE LATE ARRIVING TO your RETREAT, ANYONE. YOU HAVE NOW BEEN INFORMED ABOUT IT. SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS NOW IS THE TIME TO ASK IT. IT WILL BE ENFORCED WITH LETHAL FORCE.

One of the comments that was given when I first posted this was that it was "heavy on authority" or some crap like that. Well guess what folks? It's a life and death situation, you better be ready to enforce and ensure your family's survival. Wishy washey, half hearted methods will not cut it. One of the other comments was that it was "stupid" to make quarantined people wait an hour and watch the spot where the dead drop was. That poster thought he was so smart and had it all together, until I mentioned that the hour wait was simply a SECURITY ISSUE to make sure no one observed the drop and came down to steal the stuff. Sometimes people blow there mouth off before there brain gets time to digest stuff. How do I know this? Cause I have been guilty of this before too!

Anywhoo, just some simple ideas for planning this. This is something you can print out, give to family members and then no one can say "I didn't know" while they are coughing up lung right in your face!!!

    thanks...
I've been arranging a quarantine location...
your instruction to bring your own tent is something I hadn't considered.

a few folks that might show, arent' likely to bring a tent...
I guess i'll be picking up a few tarps.

    question to whomever...
a young able bodied couple show up...
    they look healthy...
they set up their tent and campsite and understand the reasons..
I want to put these folks to work...
    they will want to work...
they've got 2+ weeks of quarantine...
do you hand them a shovel and rake and explain they should dig a ditch for a water line?
do you give them guard duty on the west fence line (area of their tent)
after they've been there a week the fruit is ready to be picked... it is in their area...
they pick and process the fruit... but they come down with ebola... I'm just thinking out loud...
sheet... I reckon we'd be destroying that batch of fruit..
maybe it'd go in the hole with the bodies...
sheet.... this conversation/thought process ain't fun and games!

Something else to keep in mind is if you've sent out a patrol and they've come in contact with any "outside" person (dead or alive), or any sick livestock, or any abandoned clothing, then quarantine may need to be initiated for these patrol members. Now this would depend on the "contact" and the type of SHTF event. No sense in bringing back disease into the gates.

        Good point.

Any outside contact could require a quarantine.

Keep in mind also this was written almost 10 years ago. I would up the time to at least 3 weeks now considering the longer Ebola incubation period.

Rock.....better pick a bettter "tent " site. Supplies should be pre packed...with written instructions or a spare frs /grms and batteries.
Folks arrive..they go to spot A..supplies dropped at either B or C depending on wind. "Tent " site is responsible for its security in that immediate vicinity ...they should be a temporary /LP /op more or less . Slit trench /waste hole can /could be pre dug or a fighting hole since tents aren't made of steel /Kevlar.

Any contact like admin pointed out should be treated the same. All folks engaged in passive or otherwise outside the gates activities should be coached and aware of what to do...where to go and how to communicate to those "inside " of their situation.

I'm sure that's been addressed ...but folks camping with you need to know that if Ham sammich tries to run home to momma after searching a dead zombie...and doesn't heed sop ...aggressive roe measures go into effect right then...... no one gets thru the gate dude...LOL
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

            thanks protus.
            tent site moved...
under the big oak tree near the north fence.. some pecans nearby, but they haven't ever produced...
so no loss there!! real shady... already have water line there...
            hmm.
now, gotta figure out a few jobs for that area!

            question.
if they use a mower/car/tractor and they end up with ebola.... how do you clean the equipment?
can ebola live on metal/plastic/ just sitting in the sun?

Welcome to Camp RockRiver. You will work here, even if you have Ebola. "Work will set you free!"

              LOL. Just kidding

I get the idea of them working but you may want them just sitting tight for a while. Remember often times work, the sound thereof, etc. draws attention.

There will be time to get work out of them, if they live through Ebola I mean. ;)

                lol,
                hey, wait a minute!
y'all think I was kidding about putting them to work!!
                ok..
I think I see what you are saying... NO noise... makes sense.
so no tractor to work on defensive ditches/trenches!
shovels and picks and rakes will be much quieter...
                lol!
if they complain, i'll tell them that "hey, this is what I heard on the internet!"

I guess I could shop around for some work gloves...

Hey RR make sure you have a bunch of food stored to give in payment for all that labor.. I have tons of Wise teriyaki rice that I keep for just that reason.. The stuff is NASTY, I seriously can't stomach more than a few spoon fulls but I got it soo cheap I couldn't resist. I just convinced myself , hey laborers gotta eat... LOL

                      lol!
                      food? oh shoot!
got some cokes. some fritos. some snickers. taco sauce. 3 or 4 boxes of rice.. you know, the little boxes that cook up real quick. we keep 2 to 3 loaves of bread all the time. box of pancake mix. we buy a pack of campbells soup at a time... 4 cans now. a couple of dozen little water flavors (1 per 16.0 oz bottle of water) 2 cans of spam. 3 cans of sams chicken. about a dozen cans of veggies...
2 boxes of fruit loops. 2 bags of pork skins... 4 or 5 single serving bags of tater chips. half pound of bacon. half a bag of grits. half a box of salt. half a jar of peanut butter.
hey. we are loaded with food...

and we've got a garden spot all staked out! it's gonna be big. dirts kinda hard/packed though...
I picked it cause the grass won't grow there. so it's where the garden will go. I bought a hoe from walmart for 3.99 to use when the time is right to chop up the dirt.
that's what I'm planning on using the quarantined folks for! associate went to sudan... he says they dig a garden with sticks there... hey. if they can use sticks, then we (well the quarantined folks) can use sticks. get the ground all churned up and we'll have lots of veggies. we are starting to save a few pieces of veggies now. going to dry them and store them in the shade to plant next season.

whoo... I get tired of thinking about all the stuff that's going to happen... where's my zapper? time for some afternoon tv soaps... yep... I've got it all planned out!

with all my research and planning, hey, we'll be doing fine...
got a bb gun too. if you pump it about 7 or 8 times, it's got good range.. I'm thinking we could get some geese that fly over to add to the meat supplies!
                      and
if I see rioting or announcement of drought or muselim attack I'm going down to sams and get me some of that rice you mentioned. yeah... gonna keep the laborers (I'm gonna call them guests. sounds better) fed real good! this way I can supervise... you know. walk around and point out things they need to be doing...

                      but.
you gotta be careful... I saw a pack of dust masks at the dollar store... 50 for $2.00 I got one of those packs and i'll be using one too. not enough for the guests, but hey. they won't need 'em... that's for me and the wife... so. I'm ready!

                      hmm.

with airborne pathogens, all this well thought out quarantine will most likely be moot. There is simply no way to protect your self from every contingency. Best to have a plan, but without knowing WHAT you are trying to stay safe from, it's still going to be a crap shoot.

I would tend to disagree,, There is plenty you can do to protect yourself from airborne pathogens even if you dont know exactly what it is you may be facing. Standard isolation and decon protocols are the same regardless. Incubation periods still run 2-4 weeks and having the ability to make a negative pressure isolation unit is still valuable even if you don't know exactly what you are fighting. Just because I lack complete intel doesn't mean I give up the fight. These skills are important. Lets assume it's your loved one who is ill. Are you just going to say "ooh well it's just a crap shoot'?????

feel free to do as you feel best. As will I. Sometimes we tend to over think what is most likely an issue with almost zero probability of coming to pass.
Still, a plan of sorts is better than no plan at all. I just don't think you can plan for every specific contingency that an active imagination can think up. :)

Again, I think you are missing the point. The same techniques being discussed for isolation during an Ebola outbreak would be used for any other outbreak. I don't consider a new flu pandemic to be a "zero probability" event and the same isolation and decon techniques would apply to both. I also don't believe that learning these BASIC techniques is in response to a "active imagination" Ebola may be the topic that gets the discussion going but it certainly is not the only threat, the flu has killed millions and as strains mutate we will see new and improved versions. Am I suggesting you run out and by Medical grade isolation tents with HEPA filtration units? No but learning how to build a isolation area and learning the skills to deal with outbreaks is just common sense and not a over reaction. So I guess we agree to disagree!
