    Small review of canned chicken

I have been reviewing different options for canned meat. I came across Werling and Sons, Inc. and decided to give them a try.
I went out to their website ordered a 12 pack of a variety of canned meats. Their website is straight forward and shipping was fast.

The cans received in my package was the same as pictured on the website.

First thing I liked was the ingredient list: Chicken, Water, Salt. No “contains X% of yyy”.

Better than the list of ingredients in this can. The "natural flavors" comment always bugs me.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting to see when I opened the can. The cylinder of meat was a bit of a surprise.

And apparently it is tightly formed, it survived the drop out of the can into pan.

After smashing it up, it resembled the regular canned chicken that comes of out other cans.

The taste was … natural. It was refreshing to know that there wasn't a bunch of “stuff” altering the taste. If I was going to eat this all the time, I would spend some time to find a seasoning combo I would like.

As far as price, the Werling and Sons chicken vs the Walmart valley fresh chicken, the price per ounce is the same.
I am happy with what I received and I would order it again.

Thanks for the info. Does it have an expiration or best if used by date? Does the company give any info on storage of this product? I'll check out their website.

EDITED TO ADD: Here is the website FAQ page. https://www.werlingandsons.com/faqs
As far as storage, here is what they state.
"WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
The documentation from our can manufacturer suggests that under proper storage conditions the expected shelf life of the product would be 5 years. We have personally enjoyed shelf lives much longer than that. The old rule of thumb is that as long as the integrity of the can is still good, the product inside the can is still good."

Their prices are even better if you drive to their storefront. They're about an hours drive from me.

They will also pack meats with your own label if you want to pay for it. I think thats who cans Keystone's and Yoder's meats.

Thanks for the info. They are about an hour and 15 mins. drive from here. Next time I'm that way I'll have to check out their storefront.

Heck, depending on which way the drive goes - it could be a trip there and to Cope's. :D
