  • A great reason to store water---Toledo, Ohio residents on restrictions

Algae overgrowth has Toledo, Ohio residents going without water. This is a good example of why we all should prepare for water, food, and shelter emergencies. It doesn't have to be a TEOTWAWKI event to reveal the need to prepare.

This is exactly the type of scenario that got my wife to at least put up with my prepping. We have some tornados in GA so, what if a tornado hits one or more water treatment plants? Water, other than air, is about the most critical resource and needs frequent if not constant replenishment. Having a few week supply on hand can mean the difference between a pain in the arse situation and an outright disaster. A replenishment plan (and several deep backups to the plan) is where I started. Also several methods of purification for both biological and chemical contaminates.

Still working on refining the plans and making them less work. I test the purification plans regularly with off the shelf kits as well as lab tests. This is the point where a lot of folks drop the ball. Do you actually test the results of your water purification methods? If so, how?
