SB= Survival Blog or SB= Survivalist boards?

Was on survivalist boards earlier today and it worked fine, just now it didn't come up.

Rawles site has been up both this morning and now without a problem.

There is a fine line, between security and access to the site. You can limit the time people stay on the site, and thereby limit what they can do. But it kills the slow reader to have to log multiple times to read through all the new posts.

I'm limited in knowledge about net security things, I know it not good to talk about these things in the open forum

Getting hacked by some "joker" is bad and frustrating but information security, access, whatever label you want...mostly has to do with money.

Identity theft and, in particular, credit card fraud is the most common. The Federal Trade Commission reported for 2009 that Florida had the highest per capita rate of reported identity theft complaints, followed by Arizona and Texas.

Internet services, foreign scams, and collection agencies are typically in the top five if not THE top three reported complaints.

While some "honest" information gathering is done under the umbrella of marketing, others are darker. Unfortunately, the bad guys can deploy cascading tiers of fire-and-forget information weapons that are well beyond your visible perimeter. Things like bots, malware, phishing, Trojans, worms, etc., have been used for years to target and acquire information and leave little to no trace.

No conspiracy required. Washington has a finger in the pie too. Check out the Carnivore system that NSA used under Clinton. If memory serves, about five or six years ago, it was replaced by a system from Narus.

More than email, SMS, and web sites, communication "surveillance" now includes cell/smart phones, video, GPS, radio, satellite, land lines, and pretty much anything short of two soup cans and some string.

And I haven't even talked about the bad guys that want to deny, disrupt, and crash systems.
