  • get your food now...

ok... I'm being a little dramatic..
    but..
it sure looks like it is time to stock the pantry.

my wife is constantly telling me about trips to the grocery store and how prices are climbing..
and on items that the price is holding that the containers and sizes are dropping.

fuel and labor prices are climbing... high factor in food production.

    weather problems.

dollar is dropping value.. many other nations are beginning to NOT use the dollar in their trade. this will speed up drop in dollar value

increased war and rumors of war will disrupt food distribution.

increased tax and business regulations will increase costs to from farm to the retail shelf.

increased muslim intrusion in society and gov't... (btw, the muslims are buying and developing large farms across the country. there is one near us)
the muslims know that there overall effort will hurt food supply.

this line for Christians only -- Jesus included famines as being a warning of his return.. so, if you think "Jesus is coming soon" then famines will be between now and soon.
(and guys, girls, let's don't use this thread to debate this one point. you can disagree. I can go with that. just let's don't do it in this thread, please. start a new thread for that topic)

    suggestion.
increase your supply by all avenues.
plant fruit trees, bushes for renewable source.
put fish in your creek and chickens in your backyard.
buy more "wet packed" stuff from sams
check out JRH for storage food... I just saw a post that mt house is on sale!
buy the bulk items, as cheap as you can and prepare them to store or buy them already dehydrated and canned.
make friends with folks that grow food if you can't... go help that farmer/gardener

yep... prices are up on food now. yep. prices on most things go up and down...
but there sure doesn't seem to be any sign of a downward trend...

    my rant for the day!

I second Rock River's rant...... inflation is starting to rear its ugly head. There is going to be a serious bill come due in the near future with all of the "free" money the Fed was printing in the name of quantitative easing. Too much money is in the market. The only way to take the money out of circulation is increasing interest rates. In the process, we can expect the price of everything to increase......dramatically.
"One cannot but ponder the question: what if the Arabs had been Christians? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.

Add the droughts in the west and the proposed new EPA water rules and it's inevitable. If you don't have at least a small garden yet, better prepare.

Well, I add to our Armageddon Pantry all the time (wife's term for our reserves, and it still cracks me up each time I say it).
I have a plan that I'm starting this week for our future garden seeds. I have hopes to start raising some chickens in our backyard soon since finding out that our city is "chicken friendly", and I'm fired up about doing some dehydrating and canning as the harvests come in over the next weeks and months.
SO...pretty much doing what everyone that preps should be doing. Our reserves have seen us through or own private SHTF event about two years ago, and so I am very vocal to everyone about the subject. We're back to pre-event levels and then some, so I estimate almost a years worth, and I'm shooting for at least another to be better prepared.
