Great question! As far as I'm concerned, I would if put into that situation. But I doubt if I could because of physical issues. I just cant run anymore, I'm too slow. Lol! But the question that I tend to ask is if ANYONE could. I think most people are tightly woven into a system that has them already enslaved. These people have homes with mortgages, they have student loans that they need to pay off, children that could be taken away, overall pressures by society, etc. You get the picture. So something tells me that too large of the majority could not 'return fire' (so to speak) because they have too much to loose. On the other hand, considering that even though a large percentage of people are awakening (although not enough) to what is happening here, I think that in the event that people WERE to loose everything, then there WOULD be an uprising. Take everything away from people and you give them nothing to loose. That's why I tend to doubt the idea of a total socio-economic collapse of any kind. Keep the people tight, strapped, and oppressed to the point where they can't revolt, but also keep them just pacified enough so that they wont want to. Money and society are malleable. Anyhow, this is just my opinion.
Happy Independence Day, everyone! Stay safe!

@ Pete, One's ability to fight should not be judged by one's ability to run. As for people not being able to fight because of being in debt or having their homes or children taken away, the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Inependence faced the same thing. Many of them lost their families and fortunes and never got them back. That doesn't take into account the thousands of men who actually fought in the revolution who lost everything including their lives.
The revolution was fought and won with only 3% of the populace on our side actually fighting.
I'm like you, overweight plus I actually have a handicap. Will I be running into battle? No, not physically possible. Will I be supporting the good fight in any way I can? Not yes but HELL YES!
Until a large chuck of the population would be willing to hide and quarter "anti-government extremists," as they are called by SPLC and DOJ, as well as shuttle underground supplies, without calling 1-800-HOMELAND, there will be no 4th of July restoration of the Republic... Gotta wait for the next generation, maybe...
