  • entitlement mentality!

a femaie explains why she should get free stuff.

a store clerk explains why relatives of the female don't own business. "they don't want to work, he says"

    here's what bugs me...
how are all of you nice guys and gals on this board going to deal with this entitled female if times get a little tough?
and to think she's in my home state!

Well.....what kind of threat is she to me and mine? That dictates how its dealt with IMHO.
Right now the threat is just dragging our economy into the gutter.

I ask people all the time if they believe in zombies. I put the question in the context of social order breakdown like New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit as opposed to the zombies in "The Walking Dead." A lot of people say they do not believe in zombies because of the ability of our government to respond to emergencies. I really do not understand this kind of thinking.

For me, I see zombies every time I see a person like the woman in the video. They come in all colors, creeds, nationalities, ages, & sizes. They are the very people who do not live within their means and do not plan for the future. They are relying on the government to take care of them. They will be the first ones to justify taking whatever they want or need when the system collapses. They will do so without hesitation or remorse. They are the people who truly frighten me because they will force me to respond in a manner I would rather not, but must, to save my family.

I do not think it will take a global catastrophe to create a "zombie horde". Hurricane Katrina did as much in the space of 24 hours and everyone knew when and where it was going to hit. At the moment, we have many what I call "catastrophe irons" in the fire: the Ukraine situation threatens to engulf Europe, the exploding debt via quantitative easing, illegal immigration, faltering economy, Bundy ranch fiasco, out of control gov’t agencies armed with para military capabilities with little or no accountability, MERS, Islamo-terrorism., unguarded borders, etc.

So, unfortunately yes, I do believe in zombies.

        Sometimes they look like this-

These were those EBT dregs I got behind at a Walmart a few years back around Christmas.

They were two of the rudest $@#$s I've ever met. Rude to the cashier, rude to me, just very abrasive. So much so I was laughing when I saw the "peach card" come out to pay for their expensive big cart of food at the end. Look at the pic, the dude obviously isn't starving...

So while we tend to think it's going to be one "flavor" of characters, it's not gonna be. It's not just gonna be chocolate, or vanilla it's gonna be like Baskin Robins- 32 flavors.

So.... in the long long after when we start to rebuild, how are we going to weed out the lazy and sumtin for nutting types? Roll up a large group of people and tell them you are looking for volunteers to WORK cleaning up and rebuilding? OK one or two may step forward. Then mention that you will feed them if they work. OK, a few more step forward. Watch who is sitting around still, who is murmuring, who is asking for or worse yet demanding "help." Do you leave them to die? Do you drag them to "happy camp" and rehabilitate them through forced labor? Do you do worse?

Seriously, this is a CANCER in American society (entitlement slugs) and it does NOT know any color or age bounds.

Again, talking about long long after the collapse, when it truly is time to start rebuilding. I.e, not the next month when Suzy Soccor Mom wants to clean up the subdivision.

How will we weed out those that want something for nothing? How will we deal with the "cancer?"

        Half joking but serious question....

Chemo works for some cancer ......LOL. but that's not an over the counter fix.
It'll be hard especially in the long term. Those who lasted that long to be asked to help etc will be the cream of the crop FSA...the navy seals of "gots to get mine " company B.
With out going full blown work crew boss...to ensure equal work being done. I don't see it being easy.
          Ham sammich.
They'll work....grumble ...complain IR hold up a shovel. Every movie....book...written or watched has this type. They either learn and rise to the occasion or they go out crash and burn style ....
I see the later happening more than the first.

          More later I'm at work...LOL

I'm getting really, really tired of supporting people like that.
And it is quite obvious she hasn't missed many meals.

My thought process is simple. Get away to the BOL that should be as far from people as you can possibly be. I have a tender heart when children are involved and if I would be faced with a family with nothing and children suffering, I am gonna feed the child. The math just doesnt add up though. I have a lot of food stored and based on the math I can feed my family for about 2 years with the dry goods, etc. that I have amassed over the years. Supplement in some red meat that I might be able to obtain thru hunting and trapping, I could possible extend that for a little while. But that is for 5 people in my family. If I take in strays and they have nothing to offer but an open mouth, then my kids lose that buffer of security I have procured. That is why my plan is to leave and head to mountains to the BOL and hope that we dont see anyone until the second harvest rolls around. It wouldnt be fair to my family to do anything less. I have paid in for years to the FSA and after the dookie hits the fan...all bets are off. Sitting in my BOL, if a family comes around...yes I will probably help, but hopefully the mouths begging are fewer than if I stay in the more populated areas.

LD3 ~ I agree with your Baskin Robbins analogy. However, I seriously doubt there will be many slugs left in the long long after. If there are I doubt those who have survived will be very willing to "carry water for them". Most studies I have read about societal collapses, regardless of the cause, indicate that those who have not prepared will last less than 12 weeks. Lack of food, clean water, bad hygiene, disease and two-legged predators will whittle down the population considerably. Those who survive another 12 weeks will have a decent chance of living.

IMHO, I think it will be the criminal organizations like biker gangs, drug gangs which will survive in the short run because they will be more willing than most to resort to crime to survive. They will also be the ones who will utilize their organization to create little "empires" which they will use their groups size to intimidate and prey on the populace.

My goal is to bug out to our family cabin in Northern AZ. I have been stockpiling food, weapons & equipment there. My father in law is an electrical and HAM genius. We're working on creating solar solution for our electrical needs. My only real concern is water accumulation and storage. We're on town water so if the grid goes down we're screwed for water.

I was traveling and noticed that a medium sized city was having a push to apprehend criminals...
they were advertising info about their 25 "most wanted"

thinking about lowdowns comment of all colors and flavors.. I started counting the members of the 25 most wanted.
on some it was hard to tell their heritage..
so I lumped them into two groups..
                    African americans and European americans
Europeans included some folks that looked arab Pakistani/middle eastern???

this in no way makes a reference to who might or might not be in the screamer category or the FSA category...

                    final tally
                    African americans 13
                    European americans 12

on a group of 25 that's mighty close to 50/50
I suspect that this ratio fairly well follows the overall makeup of the community I was visiting.

We live in a rural area. Six miles outside a one stop light town of 2,000. But trash comes in all colors. At least in a small town they are easy to spot.
It took years of my labor and a wheel barrow full of cash, but our property (4 acres) is fully fenced, cross fenced and gated. The gates to the outside stay padlocked shut 24/7/365 whether we are home or not. Anyone who climbs over and gets inside is automatically up to no good in my opinion.
And being on a dead end dirt road is a plus - no one is just passing through. We know who belongs and who doesn't.
