I work in IT and sometimes I get to go to some neat conferences. This week I got to attend several sessions from IBM at the IOD (information on demand) conference at our head quarters.
One scary session was hearing about Watson, the super computer that beat the 2 top winners in Jeopardy. They have been teaching it to learn...think wargames movie...it can now build a personality profile on you with about 52 words and social media.
IMO Watson = Skynet. It is that neat and scary at the same time. They are opening it up to the cloud for people to use it and develop apps for it. It could easily be used for bad stuff...I hope they build in the 3 laws of iRobot.
They are loading it with Medical books so that it can give probability of possible treatments to Dr's...personally they should start with telling people to try raw milk.
They are using it in Finance and Insurance and other areas too.
