  • Time to tighten up or no?

    So.... the Ukraine/Russia deal.

    What's your take on this?

Time to tighten up? Or "nothing to see here people move along?"

We are accelerating work around the homestead on critical infrastructure that is "in process" of being renovated.

Need to go over more nuclear protection stuff with the family. Boy is old enough and smart enough to "get it" well now, and science really interests him.

So will "zero" grow a pair or will this be another "red line", "No not THAT red line, another red line" type deal like Syria?

Short answer, yes. Too many bad things are lining up. The worst thing (and the easiest for the bad guys) would be an EMP, which screws everyone up. Two days to two weeks will clear the situation up, one way or the other. Anyone read the silver thread earlier today? That will be a pretty good indicator, as most of the normal indicators are either twisted, or being controlled. Time to roll the dice and pick up the things that you have been pushing back.

Remember the most obvious indicator, the Web. When it shuts down, set defcon 1 and execute whatever plan you have.

    I hope I'm wrong...

My guess is that Putin is not afraid of our man-child president and won't bend to Obama's demands... What that leads to is anyone's guess.

ref - linking to another site... I try real hard not to.. but.. there may be an open reference there that one of us can move here..

editing to add the following... I found Templar's reference...
            the overall thread asked

"what should the guy do with some money he wanted to take out of the bank?"
I'm going to copy one response. I know that poster... he's "approved" the repost!
            ------
            some ideas

            food prices are headed up..
wet pack, long term storage. anything would save money later.

ammo prices are down from last 2 years.. got a s and g flyer with 762x39 for about 225

some folks are hiding/burying frns... that's a good idea as long as purchasing power holds up.

silver. 90% is recognizable. American eagles are only slightly above rounds or bars. and more widely known.

            used pick up truck

used compact tractor 25 to 50 hp maybe with some used equipment.

            tools, mechanic/electrical/plumbing/gardening.

I believe your concerns are very justified.

egg laying critters. I'd pay a lot for a dozen eggs if there is a s storm
            --- end of copied post.
I sort of know a couple of the other posters...
maybe it would be alright if I summarized their silver comments.

silver comments -- info gleaned from other posts.

the following is a brief summary of some other posts... regarding silver...
I believe all of the below has been covered in this forum. I think we have already debated both sides of any sentence below!!
silver is going up say some... silver is going down say others... looking back at the last few years. BOTH WERE RIGHT! lol that is comforting!
I guess folks should take the comments/summaries as something to think about or consider
as we discuss the possibility of war/ disaster/ economic difficulties/ storm or other.
so, make your own decision... I sure can't guarantee squat!!

Apmex is a commonly referred to source for silver.
think they are in California so, it is a long way from me... but they ship in plain, insured boxes..
a huge plus is that they will buy back what they sell. and they frequently post their buying prices..
whether they sold that coin or not..

regarding silver... many think that it will skyrocket in value if the dollar / economy crashes.
so some recommend buy it now.. and when it skyrockets use the profit to go pay off your loans/mortgages.

currently, if you immediately need to sell silver and go to your local pawn shop or "we buy silver here store"
they will probably only offer you 40% to 50% of what you paid... they really put the squeeze on a silver seller.
                >>>>
unadulterated ad to the tune and background music of the song "silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, give I thee."
rockriver will pay you spot price for your silver at today's prices, for your silver!!
find him at your local private message communication center!! load it up and bring it on down!!
you can also find him at your local S+P campout!!
                >>>>>
                back to our show....

instead of pm or in addition many suggest that our fellow who is withdrawing money, should buy food, or weapons, or ammo, or tools
                ----
a very good comment-- by an astute friend of mine--
asking who all bought silver at 38 or 40 or 44? per ounce.
he explains that silver is rumored to be going to 400/ounce
but at current prices of 21 it has clearly dropped dramatically.
it is an investment he explains... up and down!
he confirms he does own some silver. however states, that some of his silver is currently valued at much less than he paid.
(folks, I'm pretty sure our chief moderator has explained this same situation here on this forum!!)

                further frequent comments on silver
fix the hole in your roof, your leaking plumbing, or heater, before you buy pm.

buy silver in volume if you are ordering from any big dealer... the shipping and insurance costs are prohibitive on just a few coins...

I'm getting a little of topic.. with emphasis on silver...
                apologies.
                and edited to explain:
(and the point about me buying silver is this... if you are new to silver,, you can sure get taken advantage of if you are selling in a hurry. .. but there are many on this site and out in your town that will pay you spot or close for your silver)

Russia has already taken Crimea and will hold it. It will be Crimea, Russia now, not Crimea, Ukraine. And I fully understand why he did take it when things in the Ukraine fell apart. His southern fleet is based there and it is the only NAVAL warm-water port Russia has. I would have done the same thing...

I think Russia will not take Ukraine unless it turns to anarchy. What we see in Kiev (anarchy) is not how things are once you get out of the big cities... But I think Russia will get ready to move in case it does go from bad to worse.

I still don't know which side to hope for, as both sides seem to have unsavory goals and aspirations. But oil pipelines to Europe go through Ukraine, so the EU has a STRONG vested interest there. Obama has no stomach for war, or even a cold war, so I expect nothing but talk, sanctions and bluster out of the US government. Now the real question would be how Russia sees sanctions and economic warfare... He may not like that too much and force an escalation.

I do believe that Putin and his cadre would EMP us and never lose sleep about it, IF, and I say IF, he could do it without blame or retaliation. Maybe even nuke KEY locations if deniability is unlikely, knocking the wind out of us quickly and taking the will to fight a global thermonuclear war, as I think BOTH SIDES know that it is not a good option for either one.

It is indeed interesting... But very little REAL news on TV. So we should be ready for anything...

Poland is getting involved, so I'm wondering if the rest of the EU are going to jump in or just watch. several NATO countries there as well, so this may escalate.

I'm also keeping an eye on how Saudi Arabia and Syria are going to react as this is going on. If they use it as an excuse to further some of their aspirations we may have a real problem. I don't see it YET, but there is a possibility of WWIII here, as well as the return of Gog and Magog going to war. China has been quiet, but they're the big player I'm keeping my eye on in this situation. Right now I am checking my preps, tightening things up a bit, but not doing anything extreme. This does have a chance to blow up big though. I'm reading mostly UK news because they tend to report a bit more. I'm also reading some translated Russian news, and boy are they making up some huge stories to justify their actions in the state sponsered news.

I'm not doing anything above an beyond yet, but this one is definitely on my radar. Putin will call Obama's bluff if for no other reason than to make him and the US look weak.

I accidentally flipped over to Russia Today on the Dish a couple nights ago. As far as I know this is a Russian Govt sponsored English news broadcast. The contrast in the information going out was astounding, and I can't say the US reports I've heard were more believable than the Russian story lines.

Most telling was them playing clips of Obama and Kerry talking about it being wrong for Russia to send troops into another country. Then the screen goes back to the commentator who grins and says, "The US has troops stationed in over 20 sovereign nations.

I think (told by many family members not to do this= think that is).

They are talking about isolating Russia. Really. Do they think this will stop him. Freezing assets of business and doing visa bans, thinking this will put a impact on there economy.

We will never know what will happen. Russia will (has) taken Crimea. If he wants Ukraine he will try to take it. There cold war talks are just talk, no action. We can never know what really will or will not happen. We are just getting want they want us to hear at this point.

On a side note, kinda sad they budget cut our military just weeks ago. o.0 Srinking the army to pre world war two levels, and a few other things. I could think of a few things to cut other then our military.

Not so good news. Sanctions on Rassia no big deal, but china is a issue. We cant sanction Chaina if they do help Russia, we are in to much debt to china, for the fear they will want to cash in on what we owe them..

We have lost our world power status. thanks to our Gov.... and the rest of the world knows it.
