  • The batlle in our minds

A big portion of survival that people like to talk about is "mindset."

It's a great buzzword and has become very popular the last couple years.

But where is your mind AT?

Do you really work on comprehending things correctly? Or can you "not be bothered" to read through something and try it yourself before asking for help?

Do you focus on negative thoughts constantly?

Are you thinking some force is holding you back in life? Could be that "evil boss", the "gubmint" and "they", could be your past?

Are you constantly putting off decisions and/or passing the buck on the responsibility for your decisions?

Do you enjoy learning new things and trying new experiences or are you happy in the hamster wheel cause it's comfortable?

How do you deal with problems? Is it freak out fest 4000 without first looking at the problem? Is it scream for help -or at someone- first and THINK later?

Do you really READ and try to understand instructions, or do you just skim and then think "I got this"?

Do you learn from your mistakes or the mistakes of others, or is the hamster wheel too fun?

when it comes to preparedness we have three things to deal with.
    1. The right mindset
    2. spending money on supplies
    3. spending money and time on training

If you are here I assume you have the mindset. Maybe you are only preparing for a 72 hour event. If that is the case then I think you seriously need to look at the world around you and WAKE THE HECK UP!! enough rant..
    2. Money for supplies.. Im not rich. I don't make tons of money and my bills are fairly high. I DO NOT have a huge amount of 'disposable income" that being said, we all have extra money but what it comes down to is we dont want to change our lifestyle or buying habits to make more funds available for preps.I will give a example of spending in southern Kalifornia. BAR B Q, we love to do it here and we buy new bar b q's every couple years. Why? because the burners go bad. So rather than buy a 30$ replacement burner we buy a new 200$ bbq. Or the paint flakes because of the sun. My point is that if we look at the way we spend money we CAN make cuts. I haven't even mentioned cigs, movies, dinners out, high dollar booze, etc. I like expensive beer, I'll admit that Im a beer snob. Cut that $10 6 pack back to say Modello or Heineken and put the savings into food. Like high dollar coffee like Starbucks?? ditch a couple cups a month and roll that cash into a training fund.. The point is maybe you cant afford to travel 12 hours away and stay in a hotel for a three day rifle class burning 1k rounds of ammo but you CAN afford to do more range time or store more food and medical supplies. Look for free medical training or network to find people who will give you training.. At the end of the day,, there is NO excuse for doing NOTHING.. Making lists, and spreadsheets and downloading free PDF's from Scribd and calling it RESEARCH.. is DOING NOTHING.. get off your arse and do something...arent the people you love worth it?????

I consider it a Blessing from the Lord that He allowed me to go to Vietnam and return. And I thank Him every morning in my daily prayers.
I learned a lot about life, death, myself, and what is truly important in life (and it ain't who's on American Idol). I learned how to think under stress, and I recieved training that taught me how to act when there wasn't the time or luxury of concsious thought.
I learned how to make do and do without. I learned how to be coldly efficient when need be, and also how to have compassion and mercy.
I learned to trust no one except those who have shown, through deeds and action, that they can be relied on. Words mean nothing when the chips are down.

Today, I'm just an old soldier. I can no longer shoulder a laden pack and walk miles and miles. My eyes can no longer see well enough to hit a man sized target at 500 meters using iron sights, like they once could. I can no longer even run.

But I'm not helpless nor hopeless. I WILL take care of my wife and what is ours. I am willing to risk my life for our freedom - however blood sucking welfare rats are on their own.
      I WILL prevail.

And having met you brother, I have NO DOUBT about that!

I think one of the biggest battles is the constant psychological warfare our Satori and their Mandarins put out... Constant pressure meant to incite. Intimidation. Obfuscation. Pushing buttons of those aware, the intended target of their campaign. Hoping someone cracks so they can have a poster boy to clamp down harder. Psychotropic drugs to more and more people, making them ineffective, unresponsive, or delusionally dangerous.

One needs to smell the flowers, see the trees through the forest, quiet the soul... Seal yourself from the mental weapons of the insurgency. KNOW who you are, what you believe in, what REALLY matters, and where the line is... Focus on the influence you DO have, not on what you do not have... Recognize the spiritual side of what is going on and realize you expected no less. Know who is still on the Throne and who YOU ARE in Him. Love; do not allow hate entry. Do not cherish life over honor and duty. Fear not!
