in our last ice storm 2 weeks ago... I learned about access to our states' traffic cameras.

you can go to above and click on "cameras"
then choose which camera you wanted to look at.

I had elderly relatives that needed help stuck in interstate in Atlanta...
last week I told them I'd come get them. but before I left with 4wd I checked the roads... clearly impassable..
I'm a few days from needing to go back to Atlanta north.
the main road I'd travel as of right now.... has no vehicle traffic. not northbound... not southbound.

sobering.

I expect this 511 will work for other states too... maybe trading your state for ga??

I tried to blame it on Bush, but it wouldnt hold water. So I blamed it on Gore. We got 10 inches of snow yesterday, then it got packed down to about 6 inches with the 6 hours of sleet. Now it is snowing again and we have about 2 more inches on top. Donuts in Food Lion are fun.

Yeah, we too in northwest-central VA got hit with a surprise SECOND ROUND of snow... I had the driveway, walkways, and everything shoveled and clean... Took 5 hours straight, and that was even with a neighbors snow thrower for the open areas... I shower, rest, pop open a beer, see what is on the internet... A few hours later, huge flakes start dumping on us... I was stunned and irritated... So back out I go and shovel all over again after it lets up. Another 4 inches dropped. But this was fluffier, so I put the snow shovel handle under my gut (I knew it was good for something) and acted like a plow truck...

This is now officially WORSE that the Snowpacylpse 2008 where 4 feet of fluffy stuff dumped on us...

just thinking about seeing what is ahead of you... as you travel..

whether it's snowing, or you are on vacation, or going to a business meeting, or thanksgiving or heading to the hills because of a
disaster, being able to get visual road information could be helpful.
