The first part is Monday through Wednesday I believe. The 2nd part is Thursday through Saturday. You can come for either part. You could probably contact about just coming for one day of it also. She's very easy to work with.Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

We finished up 201 yesterday and the class is a must if you have not had any other medical training. Due to work, I have always had to take the First Aid, CPR, and AED training regularly for the past 30 years. These classes really teach a lot of information. I took both classes in a row and am amazed at how much you can learn in that short time. I was also truly amazed by Doc Cindy. The course if very well planned and presented, but during times in the class when questions were asked Doc Cindy's knowledge just flowed out. Dennis

Joined the gang on Thursday having went through 101 last year there.
Sutured most of the day on Thursday, did a lot of various suture patterns and types.
This was one of the odd area suturing exercises we did- working cartillage on an ear. It poised some challenges but that was what the class was about- pushing what you learned previously in 101.
We went on to do a lot of inside the wound suturing and did a lot of various suturing patterns inside wounds as well
I didn't take that many pics - we did a LOT more than this. It was definitely NOT the 2 hour "drive through" suturing class that others do, this was a professional class.
The final exercise of the day involved a nasty jagged cut that required internal and external sutures, all the while "blood" was being pumped into the wound to make it more challenging.
That was fun. It definitely made you think about working a little quicker but I ended up just keeping another hemostat handy with a folded up 4x4 clamped on it and just keep daubing the wound out with one hand and I worked with the other, setting it down to tie off, etc. It seemed to work o.k.
2nd day was advanced casting. We looked at some out of the norm orthopedic fracture injuries and worked through a lot of them including things like boxer's fractures, open fractures and others
I think Dennis was the one applying this cast on me- that guy is awesome and he can put a cast on me any old day of the week!
Day 3 dealt with major trauma
I didn't take any pics. Honestly I was sick as a dog and it didn't occur to me.
We looked at various types of major trauma including GSW's, tension pneumothorax, etc. I brought a needle decompression training mannikin we use in our classes and everyone seemed to enjoy using it.
Awesome class!Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Sounds like a good class. Suturing and casting are not that hard when you understand the basics. Practice, as with most things, will help to keep those skills fresh.
