most Christmas seasons I make a little trip across north ga...
it all starts at the above store. they usually have big end of the year sales.
it's like a walmart committed to outdoors/guns/camping...
and the pricing is for us normal folks!!

leaving Atlanta going up 75 continuing on 575 (575 name actually stops somewhere in there, but the 4 lane pavement continues)
meaning that it is easy access to the Atlanta airport, hospitals, shopping, sports, florida!. the bad is that it is easy access for a "ner' do well" to drive up from Atlanta.
but for some reason... nerdowells stay out of pickens...
because of access you have folks that live in pickens and drive to northern suburbs of Atlanta to work.
Lockheed, for instance in cobb county, will have a lot of pickens and surrounding county employees.

used to be known for marble mines... probably still is... but other business is coming in...
good work ethic.
population is probably 85% white 15% other... a government chart could clarify that.

folks all across north ga. like home cooking.. take care of their own. will ask you "where are you from" and understand it if you want to stay secluded.
if you buy the house on a mountaintop and put up posted/stay out signs, it will be all right with the neighbors... they will wonder if you are making 'shine.
if so, that will be all right too with most of the neighbors!

I'd suggest after Christmas you should go up and visit the bargain barn and nose around. eat at some local restaurants. we ate at the Wendy's near the barn a couple of years ago. a sharp guy was sweeping and cleaning up. he asked us if we needed refills or anything else a couple of times. after the second time we started talking. he understood the need for good service. sweeping up gave him a good opportunity to watch his customers and his employees. a good guy.
will you see some fereners and some fellers with huge holes in their ear lobes, some boys and girls that don't understand how God meant for them to use their private parts? yep...

there are some other folks on some of the sites you visit that live closer. a wood carving fella came one time to ga campout.. I think you got a prize from him. he told me that he prefers to keep his comms to a minimum. but, if you get Real serious, I'd contact him too.

alright ga boys ... speak out.. let's get Templar up here to ga...
oh yeah... the lakes up there have got some good deep water... none of this 4 to 7 foot deep muddy rivers in your village.
time for him to get away from the land of gnats and girls in skimpy bathing suits!!

Nice country county.
Its the same distance North of Mecca that I am south. You have Kennesaw and Canton for retail.

And you are only 30 miles or so from Blue Ridge and the Cohutta Wilderness. You are close to Dahlonega and Helen.
Also not far from Chattanooga, Rock City and Blairsville.

Kennesaw Georgia is a little south of pickens. a few years back the media jumped on Kennesaw because their town fathers voted a requirement that every household should be armed....
Kennesaw is in cobb county... a few years back Atlanta started MARTA which is the gov't sponsored bus and rail transportation system for the Atlanta "area"
cobb county decided not to participate in marta.. lots of atlantans wordered why.... it would make transporting cobb countians into Atlanta and their jobs so much easier. cobb county's response, this is just a rumor you understand!

and just think pickens is north of cobb!!! north is good!!

just 2 well respected colleges! nearby...

here's another north ga. cobb co. story... oh yeah... I forgot to add, this county votes republican too. even though it is right next to democratic Atlanta.
the Olympics were coming to town... going to be the biggest thing ever.
every county, every town nearby was going to benefit and prosper...
each sport was picking out venues in surrounding areas...
??? something?? I think it was volleyball was going to use various facilities in cobb county....
the sodomites heard that something good was coming to cobb and they raised their ugliness, shouting that cobb must bow to the sodomites or they would protest and cause trouble. .
cobb stood on two feet and said... well I guess we won't have volleyball in cobb!!!
