an associate is high in a prominent denomination. i asked him about 5 years ago.
tell me about the state of america and God's judgement. before i could get the words out..
he advised that God would act and would judge and it would be dramatic. i was shocked.
i'd been asking preachers for their response to that question and had been getting passive love your neighbor, God loves us, we love israel, we are a christian nation, God won't let anything dramatic happen to the u.s. answers.
this man was specific, but i knew he didn't preach this from his pulpit. i respectfully asked him about it,
and his response was that he was called to win the lost and get folks saved. and the results are there.
---
5 years forward. his denominational leaders rejected his ideas of evangelism, preferring a more social gospel. this speaks of the state of the nation, as this denomination is usually known for its conservative and evangelical stand.
---
the preacher is taking a break from the pulpit at his very large Church. he has a serious medical issue and is tired from his denominational duties. (i'll stick a prayer request in right here for this preacher) if you've identified this man, i ask that you not name him. that's not the point.
--
the current news... an interim preacher for several weeks has spoken at this large church.
the interim has spoken for several weeks now about the judgement of God and that the nation has turned from God. he was asked "have we gone to far to turn back?" the interim
preacher said "yes."
my source reports much mumbling about the nature of this message. it is not easy on the ears. (this is another reason, i don't want the preacher or the church identified!) the purpose of the post is not to put down or to push up the denomination, the church or the preacher. (i happen to like all 3!)

the series of events is a trigger event for me.
you read. you decide.
