  • a "trigger" from a Church

    mods,
Church related, if this should be in the prayer room, please move or delete.

an associate is high in a prominent denomination. i asked him about 5 years ago.
tell me about the state of america and God's judgement. before i could get the words out..
he advised that God would act and would judge and it would be dramatic. i was shocked.
i'd been asking preachers for their response to that question and had been getting passive love your neighbor, God loves us, we love israel, we are a christian nation, God won't let anything dramatic happen to the u.s. answers.

this man was specific, but i knew he didn't preach this from his pulpit. i respectfully asked him about it,
and his response was that he was called to win the lost and get folks saved. and the results are there.
    ---
5 years forward. his denominational leaders rejected his ideas of evangelism, preferring a more social gospel. this speaks of the state of the nation, as this denomination is usually known for its conservative and evangelical stand.
    ---
the preacher is taking a break from the pulpit at his very large Church. he has a serious medical issue and is tired from his denominational duties. (i'll stick a prayer request in right here for this preacher) if you've identified this man, i ask that you not name him. that's not the point.
    --
the current news... an interim preacher for several weeks has spoken at this large church.
the interim has spoken for several weeks now about the judgement of God and that the nation has turned from God. he was asked "have we gone to far to turn back?" the interim
    preacher said "yes."
my source reports much mumbling about the nature of this message. it is not easy on the ears. (this is another reason, i don't want the preacher or the church identified!) the purpose of the post is not to put down or to push up the denomination, the church or the preacher. (i happen to like all 3!)
    ---
the series of events is a trigger event for me.
    you read. you decide.

I feel, we as a Christian nation, have been traveling down a slippery slope for several years.
Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!

Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!

ATTENTION: No trees or animals were harmed in any way in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were really ticked off!

If the USA is not judged, then YHWH owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology...

Agreed. Churches seem to have forgotten that we are also to judge within the church (I believe Paul spoke of this), the way I took this was that if people are doing stuff they shouldn't be then they are to be counseled on the issue and if they continue then they should be asked to leave until they change their behavior...please correct me if I have misunderstood this.

It sickens me to think that people (in general) of this country thinks its better to protect whales/dolphins etc. but won't do the same for an unborn child. I am so glad my Mom didn't think I was an inconvenience.

You have understood it correctly... The "BODY of Christ" is indeed to judge on some matters...

My favorite example (also an example of a translation error) is the following...

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
            (Col 2:16-17 KJV)
Several manuscripts DO NOT have "is" in that verse. Take out the "is" and it all makes sense....
