an associate ran for and got on his local county commission... I thought that was great... but also thought "what a hassle, and why go to the trouble, and what about all the time he would put into this adventure," and many other negative type thoughts.
I was wrong..
folks, most of us want things to get better. yep a few want the shtf. but not many.
many of us work in our local civic groups, local sportsman clubs, local churches, pta's and other organizations.
but I don't remember hardly any comments about folks running for the town or county commission, much less a regional or state office.
my last church discouraged being involved... something about it not being worth the effort... about it was politics, therefore it is crooked and evil and other
slurred comments.
well, if the moral folks intentionally stay away, then that leaves the gov't to the immoral and evil, so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
bottom line.. I encourage you to get involved.. if you don't run yourself, look around your group, encourage someone to run and then energetically help him or her! get elected.
will it be a hassle? yep. will it be low or no pay? yep. will you get frustrated? yep.
will you see crookedness? yep.
but it's also a way:
to help your village.
to help get acquainted with local law enforcement.
to help learn about emergency plans.
to help hold others in authority accountable.
to support that wishy washy commissioner stand tall.
to help you and yours "stay in the know!"
I haven't been following this rant myself!
