  • Pending Cut in Food Stamps

I've seen three or four places now that refer to the cut in food stamps on Nov. 1st. They're not stopping them completely, they just cutting them, by something like 30% and up. Concurrently, George Noory did a report that he received an email from a woman whose husband worked in a prison where the inmates were making "Martial Law" signs. That's all they were doing. He reported that a truck that appeared to be overloaded was stopped on the highway, and all it contained were signs that said, "Martial Law." I'm not quite ready to get out my tinfoil hat, but I think it is important that we remain aware of the possibilities, especially considering what happened when they were just delayed last month. This could get ugly, folks, if it happens. I think it's going to happen. Hey, what would you do if your budget for groceries was cut by at least a third? Got kids? They like to eat too....

What will martial law look like? I was in Korea under Pak Chung Hee, and about all it meant there was a midnight until four curfew, where the Korean National Police could legally shoot you if you were outside at that time. I didn't see much other interruption. Will it be a matter of, "Martial law means what we want it to mean" or do you think they will get more specific than that? I'm looking for specifics here people. Help me out!

I don't know about martial law...

but cut in food stamps will be a good thing...
folks could get their food from family, church, civic clubs and local community.
then they would work harder to become productive.
and family, church, civic clubs, and local community would all be more attentive to the person getting free food.

shoot it would be better to just cut out the food stamp program completely.
it would save a bunch... and save a bunch of bureaucracy expense.

      rr-

If we cut the food stamps altogether, there would be riots in the street. Cut them 30% now and 10-20% a year for the next few years. Wean them off and then do away with the program altogether. I have a novel idea....do that for all the spending in Washington until we have a balanced budget....or a little longer until we can pay down the national debt :-) Never happen.

Not sure I would place a lot of emphasis on what Noory has to report. Not unlike Alex Jones, he gets paid to keep people listening to his broadcast and will report some pretty out there stuff.

I tend to never discount most anything. But like you said, not ready to whip out my tin foil and ammo box just yet.

As for the martial law in this country aspect...not sure and I don't think anyone could ever give you an idea since it's not happened in recent memory. Every situation is different when it comes down to it and many things will depend on what brought it along. I mean, sometimes after something like a hurricane or other natural disaster they have a dusk to dawn curfew with other rules so that is in a sense a form of "martial law" since many of the times military and guard forces are helping enforce it.

Many/most times of martial law are going to be completely different. Not really sure what the situation in the US would be since it's all dependent on what sparked it in the first place.

Dunno about this report but the recent "glitches" sure seemed like a test hidden as an accident to me.

The whole food stamp cuts deal was started during the debt impasse in Washington by the Obama Regime. No doubt to scare people. They have been known to hurt and scare people before.

                jimmy,
I wonder what I would do if the shtf..
people start asking that I help.
                then they start demanding.
then they say they are gonna riot if I don't get all my friends to supply their needs.

hmm. that's what we have now.

                jimmy,
by the way.. I like your idea.
here's what I've been telling anyone who'll listen.
plan 1. stop the program today. tell folks to get their neighbors, relatives, friends, church folks to give up their hard earned resources to feed and clothe them.

if the hearer doesn't like that idea, then I suggest something close to yours.
                plan2.
year one. welfare paid out exactly like it was last year. except no government inspections, checks on kids. no more expense cost to welfare workers. tell welfare folks we aint gonna check on you anymore ever. go get a job. go to school, sit on your porch. do whatever. by the way if you are willing to get off welfare, you will get to choose your replacement. they will get your exact benefit.
year two. welfare benefits cut by 20 percent. same rules as above. welfare employees pay cut 20%
year three welfare benefits cut another 20 percent... some of 'em at this point will get mad... hey. sorry about that but there ain't no more free ride. get your church to give you money for dope, food, a Cadillac, air conditioning. by the way, this would be a good time to race down to the tech school and learn a trade, cause next year we are dropping another 20%
oh yeah, and for those of you with multiple social security numbers.... we've got the remaining welfare workers working on that since they aren't checking on you any more. if we can catch you, the welfare worker gets half your remaining benefit as a bonus.
and we are cutting off all benefits. yeah. sounds tough, but ner' do well, you've been doubling up for a long time!
                well you get the idea,
drop it 20% a year till it's gone. that's 5 years, enough time for someone to go to college! learn a trade, get a job.

Very true. Although the rest of the quote is equally applicable:

“I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.”

Sad that in 240 years, our nation has forgotten that advice or rather chosen not to follow it.

RR...looks like with answer number two, we're on the same page. Need to do that with most 'entitlement' programs.

Just to be clear, Noory said that he was getting a LOT of emails about the Martial Law, and he said, "It was just an email. I don't know if it's accurate or not." I think he tries to give the straight story. I just wish the rest of our media did the same. I would be happy if they would just try.

Anyway, I don't think we're going to see rioting. I could see a minor spike in the crime rate as some try to make up the difference in income in illegal ways. Not much beyond that, but hey, I've been wrong before.... :-)

time to boost this thread back to the top.
dhs is spending millions to protect gov't buildings.

looks like this may be the magic weekend...
actually, I think it won't. I get zero foodstamps and I'm not marching.
so a 35$ cut shouldn't cause someone to march.

The advice was not forgotten. It has been ignored by design. The more voters have to rely on politicians as their source of sustenance, the more power they will give the politicians to take from the producers and give to them.

To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab.
