    Monkeybird like Elittle said don't sell yourself short. I am not good at sewing and am no better at stiching, so thats valuable for sure! I don't want a team of knuckledragging folks like me,it would not be prudent. I want a diverse team just like I had in the military and have on this forum. All walks of life and different experiences with different ideas. That is strength! It takes a good leader to surround themselves with that and then make the right choice. I have a 68 yr old with a terminal disease on my team and wouldnt trade him for nothing cause that guy is smart, funny and a heck of a teacher with good ideas that can shoot. He cant walk 100yds but I wouldn't sell him out, I need him, he's rode a river or 2 and seen an elephant and you can't buy that.

      I just saw this on SurvivalBlog the other day and wanted to share in case someone else hasn't seen it.

      The eight mechanical arts of medieval tradition are weaving, blacksmithing, war, navigation, agriculture, hunting, medicine, and theater.

      http://www.survivalblog.com/2010/09/...s_and_the.html Something to think about. I personally have always been interested in blacksmithing, particularly in knife making. I have worked with and around gas forges but haven't really got a chance to do anything serious.

        I am an ex-army ranger, I have seen combat in two different AOs. I have done a lot of repelling and scuba diving when i was in the military, as well as military survival training. I've been hunting, camping, and fishing since I was twelve. I've had ten years of martial arts training before I went into the military. I am an amateur gun smith, I've also worked in the maintenance field for about fifteen years. I'm in good physical condition for my age.

          "Toot, Toot"

          One pro I'll mention and it's not mine:

          My wife is apprenticing as a midwife, so though it's a perfectly natural process and very seldom requires intervention of any kind; and God forbid a pregnancy occur during SHTF scenario, she'll be there and understand any complications that may arise.

          Cons;

          Absolutely no practical survival experience in Metallurgy
          Have first aid/cpr certification but would like more knowledge of operations, suturing(wife will gain knowledge through midwifery.)
          Need further knowledge of wild edibles
          More practice firestarting
          NEED TO LEARN TO RELOAD and cast my own.

          It's hard to think under this pressure ;-)

          I need to learn East coast tree identification... lived in California where anything green, you can almost gaurantee it's not native to the area and uses irrigation to keep it alive. Chapparal is relatively easy to discern edibles and useful plants.
          Need to build and re-establish a deep and meeningful relationship with Jesus Christ, that he may guide in everything I do, and I'll actually hear his promptings.
          "but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved... even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children." - Matthew 24: 13; Isaiah 49: 6
