  • met an old friend.

    at a farm equip. store.
    --
outside the store, "catching up" with friend,
i started relaying my concerns from a Christian viewpoint.
i knew he and brothers and dad were very active in their ind. Church.

he just started grinning. finally he responded to some specific questions.

"rr, did you know our family has a 2500 acre farm in xx county nearby? ... it's set up with ... "
we also have a "family farm in south ____ state. it's not blood family. it is folks we've known and trusted for decades.
i'm doing more and more work in south______state so i can be in the area of that farm also.
this is where we have located large equipment that we use in our work in that area.."
"you mentioned fuel concerns... listen to my truck," as he cranked his 3500. the diesel wasn't diesel..
the exhaust wasn't smutty. i finally stuck my finger in his aux in-bed tank. mineral oil! the 3500's exhaust wasn't diesel either!!
it sure smelled better than gasoliine or diesel!

bottom line. it was so good to stumble on someone whose family is aggressively prepping. though he never used that word, or anything similar.
when i asked about his dad's (a Christian leader) feelings on topics we discuss here on this forum. (with a decided Christian slant to the question) he just grinned... and it's obvious, their "walk" is the answer to my question..

hot dog... it was so good to stumble into a trusted old friend who is "on track." i suspect he may not use some of our cool prepper/suvivalist/patriot abbreviations, words, phrases, lingo.
but it was encouraging.. folks are waking up..
    hmm..
actually, lol, maybe it's me/us that's finally waking up...
to the family... i salute you!

I'm pretty sure there are more folks with a preparedness mindset now days than ever before, but like all good preppers and survivalists...they are feeling everyone around them out to see where their minds are headed.
"It has been said that preparedness and being prepared promotes fear. This isn't true.......being UNPREPARED is what promotes fear"
