so. anyone ever dig out the old shtf/paw/apoc books from time to time and read them.?
ive been reading lucifers hammer on and off before bed for a bit. - honestly some of it bores me lol. but it has some good reading. so i was on this kick a while back and still am when it comes to blogs/forums/""survival" products/dealers that have popped up over the last 3-5 years. lowdown knows what im talking about here .so it'll help explain why what i read stuck out to me.
so
for those who have read it....you should read the few pages or so that it goes into all of the stuff thats being sold, running out. talk about list of junk. but buried in all that was a lil nugget that can apply now 30 years later. one of the characters if talking about a company(s) that start selling pre made kits for the "hammer"...one is a membership to a "survival" club,,which he quips.." if you can make it there.." .lol then few paragraphs later he's comparing those pre made kits and the cost..which i laughed pretty good at the one that even included a landcruiser to get you to the hills for only 10K ...
but what stuck out was what he said after that about how all these kits are being made/sold and none of them really are tailored for anyone. aka they are generic. How can the one kit work for a person on the west coast for the person on the east coast....... i guess it kinda shows dont fall into the one size fits all when prepping/stocking up etc . example would be those 3 months of food in a bucket for 99$ threads we see from time to time on the web.
anyway thought it was worth sharing ...since a ton of the old stuff is over looked and all the """new" stuff out there( from books, ideas, etc) is gobbled up, but its nothing more than a repeat....just like OSA is nothing more than a modern alas babylon imho. instead of scotch in the AM its have another marlboro light LOL
