  • Get Out Alive Bear Grylis TV Show

Its on regular TV on I believe NBC monday evening
I don't know if the content will actually help with outdoor survival or if it will be hype and junk. It's always hard to tell with the tv land guys that take way to big a risk for "survival" outdoors.

Yeah, saw a commercial last night. Agree, the writers could take this the wrong way if they want to.

a few of the things had issues but this is my review of the knife I still keep as my primary in my go bag

The place to discuss gear. From Alice gear to Kifaru... Gear, knives, night vision, armor, etc.

Ok well the show isnt great but watchable. It's the typical tv land show but if you watch you can learn something from it. You can also see alot of things that are wrong too. It's very apparent these are not skilled woodsmen and only a few have heart. Any thoughts from the remainder of the peanut gallery?

Well I really like alot of what bear is teaching them and many are simply not up to challenging themselves.
Attitude really shines when they are pushed and it becomes very very apparent of those who think they are owed something or are too good for this n that and tolerance is very limited for them. It is a small precursor into what will happen with people in real SHTF.
Just like this game show if you really believe in survival you will get in shape enough to handle the challenges you WILL face if not someone might look at you and say "you will not make it" and it won't be Bear Grylis.

Never made a rope stretcher like the one they showed, might be something to look at though most of my climbing days are over. Still shouldn't be wasted knowledge I guess one could use a garden hose or other rope I guess

These guys are being pampered more than they show otherwise tremendous weight loss would be showing and them baby ducks and maggots woulda been scarfed down.

If I find food in plenty and i'm facing a sheer rock face and no knowledge of what is on the other side some of that food is going in the pack too. Be danged if i'm leaving it just sitting there especially when i know how many calories i'm gonna burn just getting to the top

Finally got to watch some of it last night.

Its like a game show mixed with Survivor. Kinda like Ninja Warrior.

That rope stretcher was pretty cool though.

I haven't seen his new show yet, but Bear is entertaining. I have no doubt he has a few survival skills and such of his own considering his past and that he's hiked some tough areas. However, when it comes to his shows (again, haven't seen this latest one so I may change my mind) he does some really stupid stuff and I think it teaches the wrong attitude. For instance, you guys are talking about going down a cliff....Survival would teach not to take that risk and find a longer/better way down. Bear's shows (not him as a person) teach some stupid things and I see them as a show, not any real help.

Agreed in the past shows but the "cliff' on this game show deal had rungs beat into the side so it was hardly dangerous LOL
The producers have a leash on him cause these aint outdoors folks

I'd eat a snake in the desert with the man.Turns out the more I find out about him, the more I like his style. He's just what my family needs to get the kiddos talking about surviving. We have had no problems sifting the good from the bad.
