  • Independence Day- TRAIN TODAY

I'm sure I don't have to tell some of the die hards around here that are so fed up with what's been going on the last few months with the gubmint, I'm sure they already are out working out, gaining skill at arms but for the rest of us a reminder-

It's INDEPENDENCE DAY, not "the fourth", the day could have happened any day not just the fourth.

Spend a little time today TRAINING.

Not counting your buckets of beans, not looking pridefully at the cases of ammo stacked in the closet you'll never shoot, but TRAINING.

Short of time? Short on money? No place to shoot?

Well you can focus on the PROBLEMS or you can DO SOMETHING- Something maybe like:

*30 minutes of dry fire work for rifle and pistol- include mag changes, shoulder transfers, position changes, basic stuff. COST- nothing. LOCATION- any damn where

*20-30 minutes of dry fire work with other family members- COMMUNICATE with them while doing the above exercises, maintain situational awareness, maybe work on your plan of defense if your stuck in your home. COST- nothing. LOCATIONS-your home.

*30 minutes of Physical training- 2 minutes holding the knuckle pushup position, don't hyperextend the elbows, back straight, breathe, I heard it helps..., leg raises-hold 45 degrees on the legs for 5 minutes, keep the back and butt tight to the floor, slow 10 count body weight squats keep feet flat on floor and back straight 2 minutes, 8 minutes for a mile run and whatever else you want. COST- nothing. LOCATION-any damn where, I'VE DONE MOST OF THESE IN HOSPITAL WAITING ROOMS WHILE WAITING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS TO GET OUT

*15 minutes of map exercise with our without land navigation- bust out those topos you have of your area, orient the map, plot numerous azimuths, triangulate on something, plan on the map a walk from Point A to Point B- what is the azimuth and distance? How long would it take you to get there? Every family member can do this right? COST-nothing. LOCATION-any piece of floor in the house

*15 minutes of medical exercise- got all that cool daddy med gear on your vest? Ever USED any of it? Yeah it's time. Apply a tourniquet to a limb of someone else, then yourself, your yourself one handed. You are maintaining situation awareness right? How about those Israeli dressings? Everyone in the family has applied one of them before right? No? Your waiting for on the job training eh?? Sounds like a great plan.... COST-very little, maybe an old bandage rotated, but since you planned right you bought extra to train with anyways I'm sure. LOCATION- any piece of floor in the house.

If we truly want to survive, we will get out of the CRYBABY attitudes of everything being too costly, not having time or money to do this or that, and WE WILL FIND WAYS TO TRAIN to learn new skills and develop the ones we have.

Happy INDEPENDENCE DAY, exercise your INDEPENDENCE!

Independence Day is not recognized by many places of employment as being important because they take things for granted which explains the ability of the guberment to do the things that are happening so some may have to modify this to the weekend but keep the thought and spirit the same.

I'll be at work later tonight :-/ sokay, I get paid extra and can save the time to take it off later.
Until then, I will train myself in the proper method to cook meat over fire outside.

          Almost got rained out

Spent a couple hours on the range with the family. I enjoying see the boy progress with the mag changes, shoulder transfers and other things we've been working dry. He shoots the G26 a little fast, but they are all good body hits. He's got a little too much hook on the trigger press versus just the pad, and we looked at the difference there. The boy got a fire going in the fire pit on the porch and we cooked hamburgers over a fire while a torrential rain came through. Kept raining through the evening so we figured any fireworks displays we could find would be cancelled, so we stayed home and watched a movie.

Well, I was away from Internet. Back home now, :-((

Anyway, was hiking in mountains on Independence Day. Half the hike was dry, the other half was raining, windy and cool. Not long hike but about 90-120 minutes but was on side of mountain. Also did some dry fire training and mag changes with the S.I.R.T. Pistol.

As far as the July 4th vs. Independence Day wording...I was just talking to my friends and family about this very thing. What other "holiday" goes by just the date? Do we call Christmas, December 25th? Or New Years Eve, December 31st? Maybe the tinfoil hat is twisted too tight, but was this a plan to get "the people" to get further away from what this day means to our country?

            Just wondering....
