  • World War Z SPOILER ALERT

    Just saw the movie.

    Overall pretty good.

Basic suburban yuppitte family. Classic survivalist/disaster film startup- everyone "minding de own bidness" while in the background there is news snippets of crazy happenings here and there. All isolated incidents of course- nothing to see here people.....

S starts Hitting TF while the family is in Philadelphia in a traffic jam. Well ole Brad Pitt's wife keeps talking about him "not going back to his old work" and the implication is that he was a spook or something. Nope, he worked for the UN so I guess I can't blame the gal....

Through some great "guerrilla driving" moments they are getting out of Philly when daughter #1 who won't listen and almost got them killed crying out for Dad to stop amongst the zombies and pick up "subway sam" (stuffed animal) now won't put her seat belt on and is wanting to jump around the Volvo with the "give peace a chance" bumper sticker while Brad is playing Grand Theft Auto- Pimp my Zombie ride" edition. So needless to say smash goes the Volvo, highest in safety class my arse....

So they get in this 70's style RV and get out of dodge. Brad calls his contact and again you think he's a company man cause the guy tells him they will pick his family up but he's got to come back to work.

    "No way"

Yeah right.... Zombies are everywhere, your in a CrapinBego RV, someone is offering to send a helo for you and your like "naaahhh, I don't want your help." I doubt it....

They head for the really safe sanctuary of yet another big city- I guess they read some online writings that said big cities were GREAAAAT places to be when TSHTF...

Never heard a better idea than trying to survive the zombie apocalypse -or any apocalypse- in Newark New Jersey......

Pretty much after that he's running around the world trying to find a cure, they find "camoflague" and then it ends with a statement about the war just getting started. Thereby probably setting up Part II....

have you read the book...from what ive hear the film is no where near close to it. book was pretty decent . actually goes into great detail as to how, where, why, it started and how the various governments reacted to stay afloat.

i don't like going to a film and finding out that they don't conclude the "situation"
        example... atlas shrugged....
hopefully they made that clear in the ads...
        something like...
this is part 1 of a 5 part story... come pay your $$ and see 1/5 of the story.. we'll have part 2 out in the theatres next fall!

Not a bad read...its done in a journalist /documentary set up ...main character is the Guy doing the interviews of government leaders...soldiers and ground zero types....some of it is good reading...ill have to see the film...maybe its one of the stories from the interviews.hmmm.
The private contractor and Russian interviews were good ones...

Saw it again last night and I think the ending is more of a "well if this goes well we'll maybe make another movie" setup but could easily be construed as the final word also.

It doesn't just come to a screeching end like Atlas Shrugged 1 did.

I saw it over the week while on va-ca... Was only 1/2 way through the book, so was hoping to see it AFTER I finished it, but didn't happen that way...

Probably 20% accurate to the book, and that is mainly city locations and zombies... So far, non of the zombies in the book run, jump and attack as fast as the zombies in the movie... But that is Hollywood. Slower zombies would be boring and "been there, done that" genre...

Book is a good read... Well written.

ahh so we have runners and jumpers huh.

the slow zombies is what makes it scary...imho even in the book it goes into how even a severed head would still infect people who didnt watch their step etc

They have zombies that would make Olympians look slow and lethargic... AKA 28 Days Later

Finally saw it, not bad. Funny though how even in Philly they had to give them a gun to survive lol. I thought ya didn't need one being important, living in suburbia and where the 2nd no longer has meaning.

Lots of sacrifice too, seems someone still has to pay the price, can't just all hide in the hole till it gets better
