  • bug out plan -- b52 pilots

history channel just had a show on the b52 bomber.
they were discussing the bombers mission as retaliation during the cold war, and their response
in the event bad guys sent the a bomb against the u.s.
    --
pilot was talking and began to describe the instructions he had left in detail for his wife and family.
how they kept provisions in the event of a war, but that their air force base would be a likely target, therefore all of the pilots had left detailed plans with their families that they should leave, where they should go. take the provisions that were stored, etc...
    --
they were preppers (probably not HCS) with bug out bags, bug out locations and plans.
    --
i don't remember hearing this in the past.

I don't remember who asked, but it was about 1980 or 1981 and someone asked my Dad "what will we do if their is a nuclear war?" We were living up north in an old factory building that had a really cool old vault. From back in the days when workers were paid in cash every Friday. The "vault room" was about 10'x10' but was solid concrete, thick as all get out.

My Dad said, "we will all go in the vault room."

I remember walking in there after that and looking around- no food, no water. As the youngest and the fat kid of the family I thought to myself- "my brothers will be eating me two days into this!" LMAO I started sneaking cans of soup out of the cabinets and hiding them in that room, filling up old milk jugs full of water and putting them in there. Thank God we weren't nuked, if something happened to my parents, I would have been "long pig" in three days!! ;)
