It is one thing to be stranded in a remote area of the world and fight to stay alive. It’s another to do so sans clothes. In the company of a complete stranger. With cameras rolling.

dunno bout the show, seems silly but might try it sometime if I have time but it does raise a question.

so there it is shtf in winter and all those without stores of food how long before you reach critical weight loss?

I did like one statement...(these may not be exact quotes) "the first priority is shelter and clothing is shelter." I never thought of it quite like that, but it does make sense.

The article goes on saying that even "if it was 80* outside, if your soaking wet you can still have hypothermia." The proper clothing can be critical to your survival. If your on watch and your soaking wet in the rain shivering because its 60 degrees with a 10 mph wind, you may not be quite alert to the dangers sneaking up on you.

The show "NAKED AND AFRAID" is going to be on starting tonight on Discovery. I don't know about the quality of the show or the usable content but it is supposed to be along the survive in the wilderness lines. I'm gonna record it and watch later

Ok it wasn't bad odd at times but not bad. Dunno about usable learned skills but it shows the effects on the body for sure.

I enjoyed the 2nd one much better. They both showed true skill sets with primitive fire starting, plant gathering, true hunting (where you get skunked most of the time), hand fishing, improvision of materials for clothing, weapons and packs etc.
            kudos to both

a sidenote they had to step in and render medical aid on his infected foot. Out There small become big quickly and the feet are everything. I still pay the price for allowing that to slip once in the Army and got junglerot feet.

I was kinda surprised that he let the need to improvise foot covers so long. third day if I remember right. I think it is because he is ex-Army and has a tendency to get task oriented. He kept saying we need to get to the water hole. I think if he would have made the sandals earlier it would have been a different story.
My take is don't get fixated on one goal, in a true survival situation it is fluid and ever changing, like Matt preaches it's OODA or like I teach SAR people & others... What do I need most, right now? And how can I get/fix it.
I also agree that sometimes the "little" injuries get ignored and get huge later when they are.
The episode in Costa Rica the guy was a big whinny butt.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Going out to the African bush with no clothes and a knife take juevos
I am getting into this show now. Don't care to look at ole raggedy butts the whole show. I would have the sandals first thing. I have watched too many of the survival shows and they don't have Cody lundin feet.
We can all play armchair director but they are doing it
Looking forward to more shows and learning from them

Ok Marines everywhere should be ticked at this recon and the embarrassment. He needed to recognize early on that he was out with the sunburn for days and the lady took care of him with true skills. That dude whined more than anyone and his attitude stunk. He finally figured it out when she chopped that eel up and he couldn't.
The burn or any injury can happen but if someone steps up in the meantime then give them their props even if it's not your way. Your lying there in deep poopoo and she is wearing clothes, hat, woven sunscreen with a fire and a woven shelter that withstood dang near hurricane winds eating food she caught and drinking coconut making your bug dumb self sunscreen while you talk about being hard cause someone shot at you once. Prides a B

The choices of tools is good since they get one thing each. Fire and an cutting edge is tops in my book

dunno why they didn't boil the water in the bottles or something instead of getting sick

That girl is a 10 in my book. Cute too.
Minus her and her moon, she was the real deal. She went straight to town from the get go. Dude knew he was prone to sunburn and still walked on the beach like it was Panama City spring break.

My wife even wondered why they didnt boil that water in those bottles Les Stroud style. Really cool how he got to it.

The Marine was a joke and showed why I never think all Marines are basssaes like folklore legends lead on.
                    He whined so much.
But as I always say, I am not on the show so I cant judge fully.......... even though if I was, I would cover my butt up so yall didnt have to see it the whole show...sheesh.

I was laughing because everytime they panned back to her she had woven something else and it looked like an episode of gilligans island with mary ann. It looked like by a few days she had outfits LOL. I was pretty sure little smarty was gonna have a coconut phone or something by the end of the show.

Yep girlygirl chops up the biting fighting feared eel and the hulk brings back an oyster

I dont even know what to say brother. Thats the dumbest choice ever. Going into the humid tropic and no fire tool is a WTF moment.
An "expert" who doesn't know a bowdrill, is scared of lets see the list gator, ants, bugs, frogs, snakes, water anything not covered in chocolate or with a pull tab

I have a spear and a machete the boa is feedin us for 2 days, bottom line. Dudes attitude sucked and if he had partnered with me i woulda ate him and those fat man boobs on day 2 in a pot of stew with waterfruit and coconut. She brings you sea urchine, lobster, fruit you didnt even know, tools and fire you didnt know and you run your mouth

Finally got a chance to watch this show. Crazy! I thought "Goggles?" to myself too. And +1000 on the fire starting bit. My in laws have been following the series apparently, and my Father in law commented that it seemed the guys were bigger cry babies than the girls. I think I agree, at least for this episode.

ya ill have to agree out of all things a pair of goggles was your choice for your one item WTF. that had to be the dumbest choice ever. its very funny that all the girls have been the dominate role players in the show to date. I will say this at least the show does shows you the personality conflict between strangers under pressure and stress.
Whats the point of having and not knowing how to use? You dont have a car and not know how to drive it do you? Having the tools for the job is worthless with out the knowledge of how to use it!
