A big part of the problem is that if we take out an airstrip or two, (just to show them we mean business) there's nothing to stop some bad guys from popping off a chem weapon or two and claiming that we blew up the containment or whatever, killing a bunch of kids, and making US look like the bad guys. There's no real way to win this one.
