  • Step up in Syria

    Few things to take note of-

    1. Russia to deliver advanced AA missiles to Syria-

    • Move will 'dissuade hotheads from entering conflict'• London and Paris force EU to let arms embargo lapse• Britain will be able to arm Syrian rebels from now on• Investigation finds chemical weapons exposure

    Keep in mind Israel has struck Syria via the air several times in the last few months.

    2. Israel "warns" Russia over this

    3. Hezbollah from Lebanon being used in the Syria war on the gubmint's side. No link but this appeared a few days ago. Hezbollah equals Iran's support.

    4. US stepping up support of "rebels" that I'm sure are about our friends as the POS we helped in Libya that later attacked our embassy

    Along with no-fly zone plans, the White House is considering arming parts of the Syrian opposition and formally recognizing the Syrian opposition council, reports Josh Rogin.

    A "no fly zone" would probably be the death knell of the Ashead gubmint, as it was for Quackdaffi in Libya. I think this will be a critical juncture, Russia will see it for what it is and that coupled with the Israeli attacks has probably stepped up the AA missile sale to Syrian gubmint.

    McCain was just calling for aid to "rebels." I was convinced in 08 that he was a retard, this sort of thing only fully confirms it....

    Lots of angles this could go, not many good that I see....

    Thoughts?

    My thought is this: I dont care who wins they are not our friend

    I see this as nothing more than the typical war torn zone and arms sales which we have seen between the 2 major manufactures being Russia and America. Money still spends no matter what or who is in power, someone will sell them what they desire. Syria is a great "cause" aka distraction that doesn't amount to a hill of bean in our lives. Fix stuff here and in their neck sideways you politicians. We need to come out of this state of perpetual war and not get involved in anything for a few years and recover or we are gonna get spread to thin and get suker punched big time. Quakdafi, Ayatoldyaso and Naughtyega were all put in power by us and we ended up regretting it every single time! Face it we don't pick winning horses and we shouldn't gamble.

      If this "head takes a lethal wound" and recovers and stands firm as the head, then I know I will be taking notice...

      There are many prophetic-minded eyes on Syria and Assad, watching to see what happens...

      It so saddens me that BOTH sides want to pull us into the Syrian conflict... It only confirms the mantra I hear from my friends all the time that say BOTH sides are the same in the matters that destroy us...

        I respect John McCains military service to our country. But he's dead wrong on this. The rebels are loaded with Al Qeaida and Hammas terrorists. Any weapons we give them would be used against us sooner or later.
        He and Lindsey Graham just need to retire for the good of the country.
        America does not need to get involved. Let them kill each other, it will be less for us to worry about.

          I keep wondering when we're going to figure out that every time we get rid of one a-hole leader over there, they are replaced by even worse people, usually radical Islamists. What's up with that? It happened in Egypt, Libya, and several more countries that I can't remember right now, but it's consistent. Does our govt. WANT the entire middle east to be run by whack jobs? I say back off, let the chips fall, and then try to deal with whoever ends up winning. I really don't see anything there worth ONE American life.

              rice and bear,
              yep.
              someone explained in the news...all the connections.
              most of the rebels were shia (or sunni) and most of the gov't supporters were the opposite muslim denomination. sunni i think. but whichever this is primarily a sunni/shia conflict....
              both of these sides hate the U.S.

              right now, we've got the sunni's fighting the shia. one side is using gas/chemicals probably. the other side are cutting folks hearts out and eating the heart!!

              so, here's my call.
              let the muslims fight each other.
              yes they need medical assistance... good. that's what the friendly muslim nations that surround syria can provide...
              (muslim doctors, muslim nurses, muslim expense.) they will know how to treat the wounded following all the proper allah endorsed rules. we continually hear how muslims are peaceable and nice... great... let their peaceable and nice medical types care for the peaceable and nice refugees and fighters and collaterals.

              will both sides need some military assistance to win. absolutely.
              but not by us or the english or the german or austrailians, or canadians.
              assad will need some help. great. let some egyptians and lybians and saudi teams go in and help .
              the revolting folks will need some help too. great groups of weekend warriors can jump in their toyotas and go shoot some
              assad troops shouting allah is akbar. and some regular military from iran or lybia or jordan can ride over and help the revolters kill all the evil muslims.
              how will americans know which are evil.
              the muslims will have allah assisted knowledge and wisdom as to who needs killing.

              and we need to stay back on our shores and just watch. i have no doubt that allah and all his legions are
              assisting both sides.

              should we watch, using satellites and other resources? yes.

              but let these two sides sort this one out.
              rr

                maybe if both sides have a bunch of these, there will be proper results sooner.

                    Rock, it was explained to me once that if you have a Sunni, a Shiite, and an American in a room, the Sunni and Shiite will get together to kill the American, then they will try to kill each other. It's a losing proposition for us, either way. Most of the Islamic countries in that part of the world are Sunni, which produces the most radicals. Iran is Shiite, and they want to rule the rest of them. ergo, Iran is supporting ALL of the fringe groups who are fomenting problems. That's a HUGE problem in places like Lebanon, where you have the different factions fighting each other. On top of that, they want Israel to go away, really badly. The reason they haven't established a Palestinian state is that they get political capital out of keeping them as refugees. If they wanted, they could resettle every one of the Palestinians tomorrow, but they don't want to. Again, we'd be better off just staying out of it.

                        thanks bearman. well stated.

                        a close associate was in a navy training class of several months duration.
                        he was friendly and could understand the classroom and physical challenge.
                        included in the class were a few foreign students including a sunni and a shiite.
                        the instructor asked associate to help these 2 mid eastern muslims... "it's important that they graduate and understand..." (death was an option during the physical activity)
                        associate agreed. the sunni would accept help. the shiite would accept help.
                        time was at a premium.
                        associate wanted to tutor them both at the same time... they both refused.
                        associate wanted to go eat with them.. as a group.. benefit... talk about the class and physical activity while eating... nope..
                        each would eat with associate. but would not eat with the other muslim.

                        what a mess.

                          World Exclusive: US urges UK and France to join in supplying arms to Syrian rebels as MPs fear that UK will be drawn into growing conflict

                          Iran to send 4,000 troops as the war widens.

                          I had friends in the military several years ago that said we were working on stuff in Jordan and that it looked to be future infrastructure. Didn't give it much thought at the time as we do that various places in the world though.

                            Posted this in another thread, I'll repeat it here.

                            Syria, the way I understand it...

                            * Distraction, yes just ask your neighbors about Benghazi
                            * Syria/Assad = Shiite
                            * Saudi Arabia = Sunni
                            * Shiite's hates Sunni's
                            * Syrian Rebels = Al Qaeda
                            * Al Qaeda = Saudi Arabia
                            * Saudi Arabia = Oil
                            * US needs oil (or so we are lead to believe) so we need Saudi Arabia
                            * US supports Syrian rebels with weapons which is supporting Saudi Arabia which
                            "keeps the oil flowing to US"
                            * Weapons used against the US later by Al Qaeda

                            We already tried to get weapons to them before in a "Fast and Furious-Middle East" but bad things happened in Benghazi so the Ambassador was murdered. This just brings it out in the open. If the WH really believes it is for "humanitarian" support, why now and not 26 months ago when people were being killed in Syria by the government. Why wait until 93,000 have been killed.

                            Oh, and bring the refugees here to America! I'm sure these "refugees" will all be vetted by the UN and no anti-America nuts will get into the states, huh?

                            Am I missing anything?
