  • Gun Safe

Hey All, I have been looking for a new gun safe. I'm looking for a modular or take apart safe. I done some internet searching and want to spend under $500. Any suggestions or experience?
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

    no info on modular safes.

i do have associate who repairs/installs safes.
he is very strongly in favor of manual dial locks... not the electronic locks.

    good luck!

I bought a gun safe after I moved into this apartment, and the one thing I regret most about it is that I didn't get one that's big enough. Extra room is a good thing, you know? Don't get one you're going to regret. Spend a little more and get one that's big enough.

If you get an electronic lock make sure it has a key bypass in case of power failure, some early models didn't. So watch for that if you buy used.

Thanks for all of the ideas. I was wondering if the electronic had any back-up means of opening. I hadn't thought about getting something bigger for future needs.

And make sure it can be secured to the floor/wall.

We purchased a safe two years ago and went with the manual dial lock, and we had them secure it to the floor as well. It is solidly in place, if anyone wants to take it they will do some major destruction to the house to get it out of here.

I had a small cheapie "extra" safe which I have ended up using for ammo and mags because they have become worth more then the guns it seems, crazy

Don't know the prices, but a break down safe is Zanotti Armor

Only suggestion I have is if your looking for say a 5 gun safe go to the 20 gun instead. To repeat what the others said Go bigger then you think nessary. I did not take this advise early on and now have several safes. Your not only going to store your firarms in there, believe me.

Also get a fire rated safe as well. I dont know much about the modular ones, sorry.

Invest in a golden Rod as well. If your a DIY a lightbulb works as well.

A well installed one seems to make it even through an EF5 with no damage and all contents secure. I unloaded one thru the bathroom window because that's the only way we could cause the rest had fallen in on itself. Good investment
