folks you may not be christian. you may not be military.

but the story that comes to my mind.
went something like this.
first they came for the homosexuals.
then they came for the gypsies.
then they came for the jews.
then they came for the conservatives.
when they got around to coming for me and my group, there was no one else left to help me.

stories like the ones below will affect folks motivation to prepare.
punish soldiers who are christians.

Being that the .mil is overwhelmingly Christian, it will be a relatively hard sell on "Christians are bad" from any outsider enforcing policy. And also, many if not a great majority of our troops have deployed into Muslim areas and seen first hand the atrocities many commit in the name of "Allah." While tolerant yes, it's going to be another hard sell saying "these guys aren't the enemy, the Christian chaplains are the enemy" when Muslim terrorists are shooting up deployment centers in the name of jihad and have ties to foreign terror cells.

Really sad that Buddhists outnumber the Muslims lol Well, not sad, maybe comforting is a better term. Anyway, the LINK to that data.

I have never found any particular religion pushed on me in my years of service especially from the chaplain corps. It's pretty much been a voluntary thing for those who want it. And the chaplain corps has been pretty good about giving "worldly" advice as opposed to spiritual advice unless specifically asked. One of the better chaplains it's been my pleasure to have known was Jewish. But the subject of religion never came up when giving life advice to many a troop.

Now having said that...

There has been a war against Christianity and Judaism to a lesser extent since this administration took office. And there were some concerns over the whole gay marriage thing where chaplains didn't want or believed they couldn't perform gay marriages (a move by them I wholeheartedly support) and a few stood their ground. Can't deny there would eventually be backlash over that and I could see someone attempting to push this through as retribution. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if I see anything out of the ordinary.

Our nation at one time was overwhelmingly Christian, yet Christianity was still removed from government buildings/property. It doesn't have to be Chrsitianity is bad, but more so just not allowed because it is offensive. If it can be argued religion has no place in public buildings, why not the army? Sadly this has already happened in the civilian world, and will be pushed though I'm afraid.

I hope I'm wrong.

I actually considered being a Chaplain for a very long time. After speaking to several chaplains who weren't allowed to share their faith, or forced to do things in the Army they didn't agree with, I have decided not to follow through. It's sad because I would love to be in a place to help those who are hurting. It was hard for me to accept being quiet about my beliefs however because I would be "wearing my colors" as a Chaplain, and if someone came to me for help they should expect it to come from a spiritual perspective.
